1. First and foremost, an online application: Candidates are required to fill their forms on the official JNU website within a stipulated time frame. Candidates are expected to provide honest and correct information.

2. Submissions of Documents: Along with the submission of the online application form, the candidates are most likely to upload or present the copies of the most essential original documents, which usually include the following:

6. Viva Voce: The candidates who are shortlisted for the viva voce are called to CSLG at the JNU campus; here, they will be in a position to present all about their research interest and academic background in front of a faculty panel.

Admission Process Degree wise

These programs in degree courses.

M.Phil Law and Governance: The M.Phil program has a two-year duration at CSLG. They share a considerable part of their admission process with the two components below:

  1. Entrance Examination: The entrance examination is a written one on the basis of which the university shortlists candidates for interviews. The reason for this written examination is to check the candidate's knowledge of law and governance, their attitude towards research in this area, and an applicable method from within which to go about interpreting things in this particular field.
  2. Viva Voce: Candidates qualifying for the written examination would be invited to a viva voce interview. This is aimed at assessing the potential of the candidate, academic interests, and overall suitability for the academic program.

Ph.D. Law and Governance: The Ph.D. in Law and Governance is a doctoral-level program that CSLG offers for 6 years. Admission processes are almost the same for this and M.Phil programs and follow:

  1. Entrance Examination: Candidates must pass a written examination conducted by JNU, which certainly will be more rigorous than the one for the M.Phil entrance examination for the reason that Ph.D. is offered at a more advanced level.
  2. Viva Voce: Viva starts after candidates are successful in the written examination. The viva carries the most marks and will assess the candidates on their original research proposal, academic background, and suitability to undertake a Ph.D. level of project research work in the law and governance area.

A related subject like law, political science, public policy, or any other related social science course may serve as more suitable preparation for these programs. Though the specifics do not spell out, most eligibility criteria probably involve a master's program in any suitable program for the Ph.D. program and a bachelor's degree for the M.Phil program.
