    About Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata

    GCAC, or Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata, is one of the premier institutions in the country, rich in heritage since 1864. Situated at 28 Jawaharlal Nehru Road, Kolkata, this historic institution has been serving with the nurturing of artistic genius for more than 150 years. Being an affiliated college, GCAC offers a concentration of curriculum in Fine Arts to 470 students. The campus of the college is small—1.58 acres—yet full of energy, and so assures an ideal teaching-learning environment. GCAC has 30 dedicated faculty members who provide individual care and support to the students. The student-to-teacher ratio in this college is very impressive.

    The Government College of Art and Craft aims at offering its students an all-rounded learning experience. Many facilities are available at the college for the support of both academic and personal development. At the very hub of these facilities is a well-stocked library that offers students a treasure house for art knowledge and inspiration. There are sports facilities for students who would like to take some physical exercise in order to keep up a good work-life balance. Meanwhile, this college has very good IT infrastructure, allowing students to be exposed to the latest digital tools, since resources are massively used in modern artistic practice.     The Government College of Art and Craft renders an academic curriculum for infusing artistic talent at different stages of excellence. The college offers programs in the form of four-year full-time courses in
     Bachelor of Fine Arts, a two-year Master of Fine Arts course, and a Ph.D. in Fine Arts that runs for six years. These programs give the students thorough training in different aspects of fine arts and render training to enhance abilities and artistic vision.
