The primary mode of admission is through the Joint Entrance Examination for Polytechnics West Bengal (JEXPO), which is conducted by the West Bengal State Council of Technical and Vocational Education and Skill Development (WBSCT&VE&SD).

Candidates for admission to the second year of the diploma courses can apply through the Vocational Lateral Entry Test (VOCLET), which is conducted by WBSCT&VE&SD. The entrance examinations are usually conducted once in a year, and students can appear for any of them to seek admission into their desired program.

Application Process

1. JEXPO Registration: Candidates will register for the Joint Entrance Examination for Polytechnics West Bengal (JEXPO) via the official WBSCT&VE&SD website.

2. Entrance Examination: Candidates are to appear for the JEXPO examination on the prescribed date. The examination usually comprises three subjects, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

3. Result Declaration: The candidate is to await the declaration of JEXPO results by WBSCT&VE&SD.

4. Counselling Process: Qualified candidates will be called for counselling, during which they choose their preferred courses and institutes based on their rank and seat availability.

5. Document Verification: Presenting the necessary documents for verification which may include:

   • JEXPO rank card

   • Class 10 mark sheet and certificate

   • Domicile certificate (if applicable)

   • Category certificate (if in a reserved category)

   • Passport-sized photographs

6. Fee Payment: If document verification is duly completed, verification will be followed by the payment of admission fees to reserve the seat.

For lateral entry to the second year via VOCLET:

• Visit the WBSCT&VE&SD site for the VOCLET examination registration.

• On the day of the examination, sit for the VOCLET examination.

• After this, the same counselling and admission procedure as for JEXPO will be followed.

Degree-wise Admission Process

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering: Admission is based on JEXPO examination; 60 students are taken. For second-year lateral entry, it is through the VOCLET examination.

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering Industrial Control: Admission is based on JEXPO examination; 60 students are taken. For second-year lateral entry, it is through the VOCLET examination.

• Diploma in Electrical Power Systems: Admission is based on JEXPO examination; 60 students are taken. For second-year lateral entry, it is through the VOCLET examination.
