National College of Information Technology, Sri Muktsar Sahib Admission Process

The National College of Information Technology (NCIT) in Sri Muktsar Sahib initiated a mission to bring to the country such a premier institute offering graduate education in computer science and commerce. The premise promises NCIT as an institution in Punjab, India, that will eventually provide quality education in information technology and commerce. The admission procedure has been streamlined and simplified with the idea of selecting qualified students for its various programs.

Generally, the admission procedure of NCIT is started for the students intending to join the forthcoming academic year, during the months preceding the session. The college offers four major programs: B.Com (Hons), BCA, M.Sc (IT), and PGDCA. These courses work on the principle of equipping students with the solid theoretical foundations and practical exposure required for advanced-level professional careers under their respective streams.

Application Process

1. Gather as much information about the official NCIT site using the online application form, or ask for information concerning the offline application procedures.

2. Fill out the online application form with your accurate personal and academic details: Ensure that all required fields are filled in to avoid hold-up in processing the application.

3. Upload or attach all necessary documents as prescribed by the college, typically consisting of:

  • Passport-sized photographs
  • 10th and 12th standard marking sheets,
  • Graduation mark sheets for postgraduate programs,
  • A valid ID proof,
  • Caste certificate, if applicable,
  • Any other certificates or documents as required by the college

4. Pay the application fee through the prescribed mode of payment. The course fee amount may differ from course-to-course as well as applicant type.

5. Submit duly completed application form along with all requisite documents, on or before the due date. 

6. Will advise reference to track the status of your application by visiting the college website or any other communication mode that will be informed by NCIT.

7. Attend the interviews/entrance examination if shortlisted in the list to be uploaded by the college.

8. After being chosen, the candidates would complete the admission procedure within the specified time for document verification and fee payment.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Com (Hons.): The Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) program is offered by NCIT for students interested in pursuing a career in the field of commerce and business. Admission to this program depends to a large extent on the performance of candidates in the 10+2 examination, with due weightage given to relevant subjects in commerce as well as to considering the competent academic standing of each applicant in the decision process. 

BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications): Thus, for those who want to be known as IT professionals, NCIT provides a fantastic BCA. Generally admission to this program is determined by the performance of the candidate in his or her 10+2 examinations with preference given to those who studied mathematics/computer science. The college may also conduct an entrance exam/interview in order to gauge the candidate's aptitude for computer applications.

M.Sc Information Technology: Students wishing to specialize in advanced areas of information technology can take this postgraduate program. Admission into the M.Sc (IT) degree is generally merit based with respect to the qualifying degree examination but preference will be given for undergraduate studies in BCA, B.Sc (IT), or B.Tech. This includes having been considered with respect to the merits obtained in other entrance examinations and also having conducted its admission test.

PGDCA: This is a one-year diploma program offered by NCIT to all graduates interested in refining their skills in computer applications. For instance, admission to PGDCA would generally cater to those who would have obtained a first degree at any Bachelor degree level. The selection mode here mainly revolves around the evaluation of graduation marks and would, therefore, possibly interview those applicants deemed fit in order to asses their knowledge and skills in computer applications.
