About North East Institute of Social Science and Research, Dimapur

North East Institute of Social Science and Research or NEISSR was founded in the year 2014 in Dimapur in Nagaland. Located in7th Mile, Peace Centre, within the St. Joseph Hr. Sec. School Campus in Chumoukedima, this affiliated college occupies a small campus of 1.23 acres. This centre is therefore committed to contribute towards the promotion of social science learning and research in the north-east region of India. The institute has a strength of 100 intake capacity comprising only of students and having 12 teaching faculties for a closer academic experience. NEISSR provides two programmes, Social Work programmes including Bachelor of Social Work (BSW), preparing students to work for change and Master of Social Work (MSW) Education for students interested in social cause.

NEISSR has some facilities that help students improve their learning process. The library is viewed as an integrated information and resource centre  to offer access to untold numbers of books, periodicals, and journals touching on issues of social work and research. With technologically inclined students, the institute provides the latest IT facilities inclusive of a 2-Mbps leased internet line in tune with the present social work trends. There are well-equipped classrooms, computer laboratory, a modern seminar hall for conducting conferences, seminar, meetings, group discussions etc with modern presentation facilities and hi-tech audio visual facilities. Accommodation facilities include a cafeteria, hostels for boys and girls, and health centre with first aid services. The institute provides for multiple celebrations and developmental bodies in the form of clubs and societies.

According to its academic programmes, NEISSR has been offering two main programmes in social work. It carries out a 3-Year full time Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) programme with fifty student intake, and a 2-Year full-time Master of Social Work (MSW) programme with one hundred student intake. These programs prepare students for employment and or professional practice in the discipline of social work and related areas. The student enrolment sum at NEISSR totals to 100; a selective policy of enrolment allows the university to provide each learner with the individual approach and professional training they need.

The admission process adopted by NEISSR is aimed at identifying students who have a passion for social work and who have the necessary academic ability. For the MSW programme, the candidates are selected on merit by best competitive method which may involve a written examination test, graduation and mark sheets, and group discussion or interview. The BSW programme also like any other also has an admission process that is equally strict.

NEISSR, Dimapur, Nagaland provides a well-designed and rigorous admission process for its programs of social work. Application Process

The application process for NEISSR programs consists of several steps:

1. Announcement of Admissions: The announcement of commencement of the admission process will be intimated through the official website of NEISSR and other media.

2. Application Form: The application form must be filled out by interested candidates, which should either be available on the website of the institute or can be obtained from the admission office.

3. Document Submission: Along with the completed application form, candidates are required to submit other necessary documents, which may include:

  • Mark sheet of previous qualifying examinations (10+2 for BSW, graduation for MSW)

Degree wise Admission Process

BSW (Bachelor of Social Work):

BSW admits a total of 50 students to a full-time undergraduate course spanning three years. Although specifics of the BSW admission process were not included, it mentioned that the process is rigorous. Those aspiring to obtain admission for the BSW program would more than likely be assessed by their academic performance in the 10+2 or equivalent examination that is socially relevant.

MSW (Master of Social Work):

The MSW program is a two-year full-time postgraduate course with an enrollment of 100 students. More elaborate and competitive, admission for MSW is based on the following criteria:

1. Academic Merit: Based on graduation marks evaluation
2. Written Examination: A comprehensive competitive written test
3. Personal Interview: To assess the candidate's aptitude and motivation for social work
4. Group Discussion: Evaluation of communication skills and social awareness

Final selection will be as per the combined evaluation from these components so that NEISSR gains able candidates not only in academic performance but also in personal commitment to the field of social work.
