The Onkarmal Somani College of Education Mysore, has been in existence since 1955 and is among the best institutions for training teachers. The college conducts Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) programme up to 89 student enrolment which shows colleges concern towards future playing the role of educator. Located at Sahukar Chanaiah Road, the college ensures environment that helps students who are interested in teaching practice they gain experience and knowledge that they need .

Onkarmal Somani College has laid modern infrastructural facilities which aim to promote the overall learning abilities of the college students. The library deserves special attention, it has ample space, proper ventilation, adequate proper lighting and the possibilities for backup. It offers the students membership to the N-LIST programme of UGC and also allows the students to access number of e-journals and e-books. It is also completely automated with e-Granthalaya software with efficient facility to search the catalogue and data entry in regional language also possible. The current IT facilities, at the college level, are a computer laboratory, which has a seating capacity of 25 students, 22 computer systems, internet connection, and Wi-Fi. There is also available a language lab equipped with headphones and educational CDs for learning English grammar and for communication. Other infrastructures include throwball ground, volleyball ground, cricket ground and other sports facilities and well furnished Auditorium for seminars workshops etc., and a canteen faculty and students.

Onkarmal Somani College of Education has concentrated mainly on its flagship programme, B.Ed which is a two years full time programme. The college has admission intake  capacity 50 for this programme so the ratio of student faculty would better and give more focus.
