Established in the year 1916, University of Mysore (UOM) is a state university approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The university is also known as UOM Mysore. NAAC has accredited the university with a CPGA of 3.67. UGC has recognised the varsity as the university with Potential for Excellence (UPE). The university has secured the 34th position in the overall category in the NIRF ranking 2021. In NIRF ranking 2021, Mysore University has secured 19th rank in the university category as compared to 27th position in the NIRF ranking 2020. The campus of Mysore University covers an area of 739 acres. The varsity has a total of 232 faculty members. As per the official website, the mission of the university is to produce students who would provide leadership, vision and direction to society. National Social Scheme (NSS) - It instills social values amongst students. NSS also educates students about social responsibility.
The campus of the university has all the facilities and infrastructure required for students' overall development. For students and faculty members, the varsity has a library with more than 12,50,000 books, journals, magazines etc. The outstation students can reside at separate boys and girls hostels available at the university campus. Students who belong to the reserved section of the society and are in need of financial help can avail various scholarships offered by the university. UOM Mysore scholarships can be availed by students who meet the eligibility criteria. The university offers various state-level scholarships. It is registered on the Karnataka State Scholarship Portal. A few of the Mysore University scholarships are reserved for students enrolled into engineering/medical courses. The varsity also provides scholarships to students whose parents are in the defence. As per the scholarship scheme of the university, eligible students are provided programme and hostel fee concession.
For the placements of final year students, the university has Centre For Proficiency Development and Placement Services (CPDPS). It maintains contact with corporates and invites them to participate in Mysore University placements and hire students. The M.Sc. Biotechnology programme at the University of Mysore, is funded by DBT under the HRD scheme. Under this scheme 15 students are admitted to the M.Sc. programme through National level Graduate Aptitude Test in Biotechnology (GAT-B) conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA).
The applications for the same were open from 11 March 2022 to 31 March 2022 (upto 05:00 P.M) as per the NTA website. The exam is scheduled on 23 April 2022 (Saturday) 09.00 AM – 12.00 PM.

The eligibility criteria to pursue BCom LLB in Mysore University is passed 10+2 from a recognized board securing 45% aggregate, there is relaxation of 5% for OBC/ST/SC candidates, admission is based on the merit of the qualifying examination, the course is offered in full time mode for a duration of five years, the fee structure is different for scheme A and scheme B, those who come under the former has tuition fee of Rs 6000 on an annual basis, while for the latter the first year fee structure is Rs 29500 and for the second it's Rs 27500, along with this there are other charges as well which you can check out the last year fee structure at https://uni-mysore.ac.in/english-version/sites/default/files/content/fee_structure_2021-22.pdf
