Rajiv Gandhi Government Polytechnic, Banikhet, was started in 2007 and is an affiliated college situated in Chamba – Himachal Pradesh. The polytechnic has a total of two diploma programmes with a total student enrolment of 223 students and employs 9 members of faculty. The institute is well equipped with various types of learning facilities in order to support the student’s learning process. The institute also boasts of an equipped modern computer laboratory complete with core-2-duo system on a LAN connection and built in wireless internet access. Concerning academic recourses, there is a small but carefully selected collection of books and other printed materials available in the building that houses the college; there are about 290 books and 1528 volumes of books and other printing materials of the subject field textbooks and reference. It also orders ten technical journals and magazines which help the students in knowing the latest technological advancement in science.
Rajiv Gandhi Government Polytechnic offers two full-time diploma programmes. Basically, it offers Diploma in Civil Engineering and Diploma in Electrical Engineering. Each programme takes 3 years, approved intake is 40 students per course and in total there are 80 places per year. The technical courses being offered in these institutions are meant to equip the learners with adequate knowledge and skills necessary for a rewarding job in the technical industry.
