About Sharan College of Education for Women, Kangra

Sharan College of Education for Women, Kangra, was set up in the year 2004 and is a premier womens college of Education in Himachal Pradesh. This affiliated college, located near Mandi-Pathankot Road in Ghurkhari, Kangra, is loacted on 2.85 acres having approved by teh National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). There are two teacher education programmes offered at the institute with a total student enrolment of 294 and all of the student are female. A strength of the college infrastructure is existence of 10 members of teaching faculty which translate to better student teacher ratio necessary for quality teacher training institutions.

The college has many facilities which are intended to maximise the learning environment and the personal growth of the students. The well-stocked library contains a large stock of books, CDs and DVDs updated by the new materials on different educative subjects. Sharan College of Education for Women  also has an auditorium used for various occasions and seminar that help in academic interaction. The practical lessons gained from IT infrastructure and laboratories are, however, essential for those intending to be teachers. There eating places on the compound include a cafeteria where refreshments are served make it possible for learners to have a place to break and interact. It also has bus facilities from different adjacent places of Kangra and being a junior college, many of its students travel between home and college daily.

Sharan College of Education for Women offers two full-time courses, a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and a Diploma in Elementary Education. B.Ed programme session intake is 100 seats and D.El.Ed programme intakes 50 seats Total 150 seats are available for both programmes. Sharan College of Education for Women, Kangra Admission

Sharan College of Education for Women Kangra is one of the prestigious colleges for women in Himachal Pradesh. It is a National Council for Teacher Education-approved teacher education college, which offers two teacher education programs. The admission procedure here is conducted for all educational courses offered by Sharan College of Education for Women and is used to admit real candidates into all possible courses from a pool of female candidates for their courses.

This college is under merit system for entries; score obtained by aspirants in final qualifying exam and entrance test is evaluated. However, B.Ed admissions will be conducted as per the rules formulated by concerned government/U.T. Administration and university. Likewise, the admission rules for D.El.Ed programs will be framed by State Government/UT Administration.

In this context, generally after full completion of admissions, the new academic session commences, usually during the months prior to that of the upcoming academic session. 

Application Process

  1. Eligibility Check:
    Make sure that you meet the basic eligibility criteria for the chosen program (B.Ed or D.El.Ed).

  2. Application Form:
    Access and complete the application form, typically available at the admissions office.

  3. Document Submission:
    Submit the completed application form along with all required documents, including:

    • Mark sheets of qualifying examinations.

    • Valid ID proof.

    • Passport-size photographs.

    • Category certificate (if applicable).

    • Any other documents specified by the college or regulatory authorities.

  4. Entrance Examination:
    Appear for the B.Ed entrance examination according to the schedule declared by the state government/U.T. Administration and the university for admission purposes.

  5. Merit List:
    The merit lists shall be prepared according to the performance of candidates in qualifying examinations and entrance tests after an entrance examination and evaluation of applications.

  6. Counseling and Seat Allotment:
    Candidates whose names feature in the shortlist can be called for a counseling session wherein seats will be allotted based on merit and availability of seats.

  7. Fee Payment:
    After allotment of the respective seat, fees for admission will have to be paid by the candidate immediately.

  8. Document Verification:
    Original documents shall be verified at admission.

Degree-wise Admission Process

  • B.Ed (Bachelor of Education):
    The B.Ed Program enrolls up to 100 candidates in all or in one cohort. Merit is the basis for admission to B.Ed. Qualifying as well as entrance examination marks are taken into account for merit. Other criteria may also be applied according to the State Government/U.T. Administration and the University. This program prepares competent and proficient professionals in education.

  • D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education):
    D.El.Ed caters to a batch of 50 students. It follows the procedure similar to that of B.Ed. Candidates are selected for admission based on preference derived from those qualifying according to qualifying and/or entrance examination score. These admissions are conditioned by policies of the State Government/UT Administration. This program trains teachers whose qualifications are strictly confined to elementary level.
