Sri Vidya College of Education was started in 2007 with a view to offering high-standard education to students of Virudhunagar in the state of Tamil Nadu. This state university-affiliated, co-educational college aims at producing educators of the future. Recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), it provides the best teacher training programmes on its small 1.31-acre campus. This college offers an intimate learning environment and a student enrolment of 262 and has a total faculty of 23. The college has two courses specialisations in education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

For a more effective delivery of learning to its students, Sri Vidya College of Education also offers various kinds of facilities for improved learning. A good library is an information centre that contains valuable materials needed by prospective teachers. Sri Vidya College of Education currently offers two full-time courses: a Bachelors of Education (B.Ed.) and Masters of Education (M.Ed) programme. The two programmes run for two years each to make sure that the institute provides adequate training for teachers. The B.Ed. programme provides learning intake for 100 students, while the M.Ed. programme covers 50 students only. These programmes are meant for preparing the students to be adequate in the area of study, which is education.
