Umang Red Cross Institute of Special Education claims to possess several working facilities in order to foster the learning process of the students. Library is well equipped with nearly about thousand two reference books and twenty five journals form reputed institutes within India and abroad. Besides meeting the informational and educational needs of the institute’s students, this resource centre also provides information facilities to the students and staff from schools for the mentally retarded, visually handicapped, and hearing impaired. it also has well equipped Psychological Laboratory with a qualified psychologist attached to it. In this lab, different intelligence tests and assessment scales for mentally retarded children are provided to enable students practically engage in their area of study.

Umang Red Cross Institute of Special Education has only one course of study, the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed). This full time course takes two years and prepares students for this career in special education. Though the number of seats have not been restricted the size of this institute makes it seem as though it only accepts a few students to increase interaction between the teacher and the student. The objectives of the B.Ed programme are intended in preparing students to be competent in handling children with learning disability.
