Vedaranyam College of Education, Thiruvallur, was started in the year 2009–2010 and is a co-educational institution with the aim of providing education for everyone to become prospective teachers. This affiliated college is in Kadambathur Village, Tamil Nadu, and it is approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Spread across a 2.5-acre campus, the college offers two full-time courses: these are spread in B.Ed. and D.El.Ed., having a total admission intake capacity of 198. The faculty of the college is 15 members strong, and therefore the college maintains a reasonable student-teacher ratio, which entails that prospective teachers receive the best quality education.

Vedaranyam College of Education offers two primary courses: a Bachelors of Education (B. Ed.) and the Diploma in Elementary Education (D. El. Ed). Both are regular time-taking courses of curriculum two years each. Due to the approved intake, the B.Ed. programme takes 100 students and the D.El.Ed. programme takes fifty students. These are a set of courses meant to prepare students for a profession in teaching, providing information which will enable them to teach at different levels depending on their specialisation on matters to do with education.

Admission to Vedaranyam College of Education is based only on the marks of the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination. Admission to the college is conducted in compliance with the standard set by the state government of Tamil Nadu and the affiliated collegiate university. In the case of a B.Ed. programme, the university may have additional norms and standards for the selection process.
