Bon Secours College of Education is a co-educational institution located in Thanjavur and was started in the year 2004, with the aim of producing quality teachers. This affiliated college is based on 11 acres in Tamil Nadu and offers education to the students. The institute has two specialised degree programmes in education, of which the total number of students is 185 and the total number of faculties is only 23. Bon Secours College of Education is a self financed institution accredited by the NAAC and approved by the NCTE for Teacher Education.
Bon Secours College of Education has several amenities that seek to support learning and the general health of the students. Boys and girls can take the benefits of the on-campus hostel facilities to have safe and secure living standards. At present, the college has internet connection through which students get to access computer related materials. A library, fully stocked with reference materials and a facility of departmental laboratories are available for practical learning. The campus also houses a hall for assemblies, seminars, celebrations etc. The college also contains a canteen for drinking/food purposes. There is also a sports complex to encourage the students to do some form of exercise. The Language Laboratory is the unique asset with the use of which electronic devices are used to help students in developing their listening and speaking skills. In addition, the college offers transport facilities for the students and staff, medical aid with first aid through a separate health centre and sufficient parking facility for the students and the staff.
Bon Secours College of Education offers two full-time courses, the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and the Master of Education (M.Ed). The admission capacity for B.Ed programme has been approved to have 100 seats and for M.Ed programme to have 50 seats.
Admission to Bon Secours College of Education bases it on the marks obtained in a qualifying examination, if any or in any entrance examination. The admission policy adopted for the B.Ed programme depends on the policies of the state government, the UT administration and the University to which the College is affiliated. The process for M.Ed programme is also similar and focuses on merit factor and strict compliance to the government & university regulations.

The government is providing grants-in-aid for two courses: the B.Ed. and M.Ed. The Bon Secours College of Education admissions procedure is in accordance with the criteria laid down by the State Government, the Union Territories administration, and the University. The merit principle governs all Bon Secours College of Education admissions on the basis of the aggregate percentage marks in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination. Admission varies from programmes to programmes. For B.Ed. candidates must obtain an undergraduate degree in the relevant subject area. Bon Secours College of Education candidates applying for M.Ed must secure a minimum of B.Ed or equivalent degree. There can be specific academic requirements put forth by the state government or the affiliating university, such as minimum percentage in qualifying examinations.

It has been approved that Bon Secours College of Education, administered by NCTE, can take an intake of 100 for this B.Ed programme. They admit students on merit, based on whether the candidates have obtained marks in qualifying examination and/or entrance examination depending on the regulations of the state government, UT administration, and those of the relevant university. The programmes are open to candidates completing an undergraduate degree in relevant subject areas.
M.Ed. shall admit 50 candidates based on the same norms as B.Ed. I.e., on merit based on qualifying examination marks, usually B.Ed. and/or entrance examination performance. The Bon Secours College of Education admission process is strictly following state government, UT administration, and university regulations.
