The government is providing grants-in-aid for two courses: the B.Ed. and M.Ed. The general admissions procedure is in accordance with the criteria laid down by the State Government, the Union Territories administration, and the University. The merit principle governs all admissions to the College on the basis of the aggregate percentage marks in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination. Admission varies from programs to programs. For B.Ed. candidates must obtain an undergraduate degree in the relevant subject area. Candidates applying for M.Ed must secure a minimum of B.Ed or equivalent degree. There can be specific academic requirements put forth by the state government or the affiliating university, such as minimum percentage in qualifying examinations.
Admission Process
The usual application procedure for every course runs as follows:
1. Admission Announcement: The college announces the admission process via its official website and relevant media sources.
2. Application Form Fill-up: Candidates fill out the application form that may either be downloaded from the website or be filled in the college itself.
3. Submission of Documents: The candidates need to submit the completed application form with the following relevant documents:
4. Entrance Examination: Candidates may have to sit an entrance exam depending on their program of choice and presently adopted admission policies.
5. Preparation of Merit List: The college shall prepare a merit list as per the need of the candidates in respect of qualifying and entrance examination marks, provisions laid down by the state government, and the affiliates concerned.
6. Counseling and Seat Allocation: Whereby shortlisted applicants may attend a counseling session out of which seats shall be allocated on the basis of merit and availability.
7. Fees Payment: Finally, selected candidates will have to pay the appropriate course fee within the stipulated date to confirm their admission.
8. Document Verification: Thereafter, after duly verifying the document submitted, the admission shall stand approved.
The Admission Process Degree wise:
B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education): It has been approved that Bon Secours College of Education, administered by NCTE, can take an intake of 100 for this program. They admit students on merit, based on whether the candidates have obtained marks in qualifying examination and/or entrance examination depending on the regulations of the state government, UT administration, and those of the relevant university. The programs are open to candidates completing an undergraduate degree in relevant subject areas.
M.Ed. (Master of Education): M.Ed. shall admit 50 candidates based on the same norms as B.Ed. I.e., on merit based on qualifying examination marks, usually B.Ed. and/or entrance examination performance. The admission process is strictly following state government, UT administration, and university regulations. Candidates have made available the following: B.Ed. or its equivalent degree holder.
