The College of Teacher Education, Unakoti, was established in 2015 as an affiliated college at Kumarghat, Tripura. This college admits both male and female students, whose focus in offering teacher education was accredited by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Located in a 6.25-acre compound, the college currently has a total student enrolment of 299 students and 13 faculty members. The institute aims to produce competent and effective teachers to meet the needs of the growing teaching profession in the future through two degree programmes. The college has recognised quality education, hence admitting students through the Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG) for consideration in admission of prospective students.

Here are the facilities that the College of Teacher Education, Unakoti, has to offer to enhance the academic achievement of the students. On the campus, we find that there are hostels for boys and girls who live from town; the hostels are well furnished to host the outstation students. An auditorium is used for events and seminars, so a stimulating academic environment is maintained. Libraries furnished in the college afford vast information mainly for investigation and learning courses; departmental laboratories, on the other hand, give practical lessons. The B.Ed. programme is the flagship programme with one hundred seats for students. Besides, the college has a 50-seat intake for the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.). Both of the mentioned courses take two years to complete and offer all the necessary preparations for future educators. The rationale for these programmes is to foster students who are professional, competent, and knowledgeable to fit current environments of teaching.

The College of Teacher Education, Unakoti, offers admission to its programmes based on merit score. For B.Ed. admission, the college prepares a merit list of students through the following criteria: marks sheet obtained from Madhyamik standard examination onwards. This merit list is prepared on the basis of stream wise (Science/Arts/Commerce) and category wise (ST/SC/UR/PH/ESM). The college accepts CUET UG score, which is one of the widely used university entrance standard tests for students in India.
