CSIR central electrochemical research institute (CECRI): It is the nation’s premier research organisation located in Karailkudi, Tamil Nadu was established in the year of 1948. This affiliated college approved to AICTE, New Delhi offers only a single department known as electrochemical science and technology. CECRI is spread over 300 acres of land and is providing a distinctive B.Tech course in Chemical and Electro Chemical Engineering. This institute has 156 ienrolment for students and 11 faculty members which make it capable of delivering quality education. Based on its overall vision, it is an important fact that CECRI has a strong focus on research and innovation in the field of electrochemistry.
A number of these amenities have been commended as invaluable in augmenting student outcomes and fostering research within CECRI. The institute offers accommodation of boys and girls where each have hostels that accommodate two to four students in a room with facilities of bathroom, full environment, and compound security. To ensure the health of students and staff, there is well equipped health centre on the campus without-patient treatment facilities, laboratory, emergency etc. Institute runs an e-library system which contains up-to-date data on electrochemical science and technology where students can find journals, e-books and research papers. In terms of Physical Fitness and Health with care, there is a Gymnasium and the centre has different facilities like a floodlight basketball court as well as indoor badminton stadium at CECRI. The campus also consists of a departmental cafeteria, a hall accommodating different occasions including seminars, and enhanced practical learning and research laboratories.
CECRI at present offers only one Direct B.Tech Programme in Chemical and Electrochemical Engineering. This is a four year course that has an approved yearly enrolment capacity of forty (40) students. This programme is aimed at giving the students a well rounded knowledge and understanding of chemical engineering and more specifically the electrochemical unit process.
CECRI follows a merit based admission procedure and it comes under two categories of admissions. two ways students’ admission makes it possible for CECRI to admit students who are qualified both from the state and nationwide.

CSIR-Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CECRI), Karaikudi, is one of the eminent research institutes. The admission procedure is built around the criterion of attracting talent at a level of merit both at the state as well as at the national level, thereby ensuring a diverse and competitive student populace. The CSIR-Central Electrochemical Research Institute admission cycle may normally go hand in hand with the academic session, starting around July or August. Dates vary from time to time, but the interested students have to be ready to start their application process in the months preceding the academic year. Candidates must have passed in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects to be eligible for any entry into the B. Tech programme in Chemical and Electrochemical Engineering.
A good level of knowledge in these subjects is crucial, given the specialised nature of the B. Tech programme offered by CSIR-Central Electrochemical Research Institute. The institute does not mention any specific cut-off marks, as it is left to candidates' understanding to secure a considerable scoring level to compete for admission. CECRI admits students based on the state-level TNEA for students from Tamil Nadu and the all-India JEE Main. The candidates willing to apply should brace themselves for these entrance examinations, focusing on the syllabus of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as laid down by the respective examination boards.
The application procedure for CSIR-Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CECRI) depends on the system of admission selected by the candidate:
If admission via TNEA (Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission) is sought:
If admission via JEE Main is sought:
B.Tech in Chemical and Electrochemical Engineering is the prime programme of CECRI having a total intake of 40 students per year. The admission pattern is divided into two sections.
Eligibility for both admission routes includes successful completion of 10+2 education in which Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are core subjects. Selections shall be based on merit, taking into consideration student performance in the respective entrance examination.
The documents required under both modes of admission generally comprise:
