Batch of 2019 | B.Tech Automobile Engineering
The Anna University in Chennai is one of the huge colleges and the best colleges of India with 185 acres of land. The automobile engineering is best in this college. Research and studies are best related to automobile engineering. The laboratories have the latest technology and tools too. It has various branches and has the separate channel TV permitted by ISRIO [Indian Space Research Organization ].My university work with ISRIO thus giving the industry exposure to all of us and also gaining lot of experiences [only those students who pass their TEST].Sports is not too good but research is best in the university. And encourage my all friends those who are opting for automobile engineering must take admissions in this university.

I'm in 2year and will give you complete review regarding our college.this college is situated in Chennai with good environment and facilities. Really, the campus placement of this college is very good.the company has already started to come here in college for recruitment. And hostel facilities like room temperature and foods are nice. Transportation is above average and canteen’s food is clean and good. North Indian food is also available in this canteen. Faculty teaching students are well appreciated. Overall, it is the best college for middle-class people.

Study Guides, Tips and Tricks Of Anna University

Posted on 16 Sep' 16 by durga kumar
Batch of 2013 | BE Geoinformatics
There is always an ambiguity in the term Anna university ever since it became an affiliating university. If by Anna University you mean College of Engineering, Guindy, AC tech or MIT, then my answer would be relevant. The metrics I take are 1)Quality of Students The students are the most important stakeholders. On the positive side, the student community is vibrant. They have a lot of student associations like SQC, CTF , CSAU which transfers knowledge and passion to freshers who join the college. The placement and internship opportunities are pretty good (as this has become a huge factor). Alumni are present all around the world in key positions at top companies and are in constant interaction with current students through any of the above-mentioned student bodies. On research end, few students take up research internships at Germany, Canada during their third year(referring to UG) On the negative side, the student strength is drastically increased in the last few years. This has made some practical difficulties in infrastructure requirements. And since the top companies still provide the same number of offers that they did few years go. Students find it difficult to get to the top companies(called as dream ones in our college). Talent is not just a factor in placement, luck also plays a key role as you need to be one out of some 240 guys(which used to be 60 earlier). 2)Quality of Faculty: The college has some of the best profs and lecturers. They show immense interest in the subject they teach. But I feel the way the syllabus is framed, lacks the deeper understanding of intricacies involved. The assessment and exam schedules are too pressurizing for them to concentrate on this. To be frank project sessions are wasted on creating documentations. There are few faculties interested in spearheading research related stuff(one such example http://www.annauniv.edu/tacola/). But being the best college in a state, the research community should be still more active. 3)Infrastructure: Yeah, considerably a good infra. But considering its reputation, infrastructure needs to be improved. Few changes could even employ students during their vacations. I have left a lot of good things about my college as it might sound like exaggerating stuff. Similarly, I have left few bad things not to offend people

Batch of 2012 | MBA
Anna University is one of the best when it comes to technical courses but they should try and develop the school of business studies much more. There is a clear lack of exposure for the students and the quality of education is mediocre. Apart from the brand name there is not much that the students can gain or develop in the two year period. inability of the placement cell to bring in reputed companies also doesn't help. The business school has a lot to develop before it can compete with the leading business schools in the country.

No Words To Describe It

Batch of 2017 | MBA
-The infrastructure is good but it could be better if authorities take some steps to do it. -The placement cell must take some extra efforts to bring in more companies for placements and take steps for more industry exposure by taking us to much more industrial visits. -My college life is already going well -I am a day scholar so no expectations regarding hostel.

About College:

The Anna University in Chennai is not very old but possesses tremendous history and heritage, plus an equally illustrious alumni list. It was earlier part of the University of Madras which had a separate faculty for engineering and technology. The University of Madras was itself set up back in 1857. There were then four institutes within this broad umbrella. Formally, the separate university was inaugurated in 1978, then known as the Anna University of Technology. The present name was only adopted in the year 1982. By 2001, the next milestone was ready, as the Anna University in Tamil Nadu was now deemed as an affiliating university, under which several colleges could now get recognition. The university had also been split later in the decade, before being merged back to its present avatar. The previously split entities now work as regional campuses of the university. These campuses exist in the cities of Madurai, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli and Tiruchirappalli.

Multiple programmes are offered at Anna University, but all to do with engineering and science as is the mandate. There is also an undergrad programme on architecture. The Faculty of Civil Engineering offers B.E. courses in Geoinformatics, Civil Engineering and Agricultural & Irrigation Engineering. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering meanwhile offers programmes in engineering disciplines- mechanical, aeronautical, industrial, automobile, manufacturing, mining, printing, production and material science. Then, there is the Faculty of Information and Communications Engineering. This offers B.E. in engineering fields of Computer Science, Biomedical and Electronics & Communications, plus a B. Tech in IT. The Faculty of Technology has all B. Tech courses for fields in – Chemical Engineering, Food Technology, Textile Technology, Pharmaceutical Technology, Leather Technology, Ceramic, Technology, Apparel, Rubber & Plastics Technology, Industrial-Bio and Petroleum Engineering & Technology. And finally, there is the Faculty of Electrical Engineering which offers two areas of BEs.

But this is not it. There are multiple specializations of offer at the ME or MTech level. Some unique courses where master’s can be pursued include Power Systems, Coastal Management, Structural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Remote Sensing & Geoinformatics, Environmental Management, Mechatronics, Solar Energy, Aerospace Technology, CAD, VLSI Design, Medical Electronics, Avionics, Applied Electronics, Wireless Technologies, Footwear Science & Engineering, Industrial Safety & Hazards & Management and lot more. There are M. Arch courses available for Digital Architecture and for Landscape Architecture. There is a separate Faculty for Science and Humanities. One can pursue M. Sc. here in Medical Physics, Applied Mathematics, Applied Geology, Applied Chemistry, Materials Science, Electronic Media and Environmental Science. Some integrated programmes are also on hand. Students here can even pursue their M. Phil degrees, one of those areas is English. And to top all this up, there is the Faculty of Management Sciences where MBA is on offer. This MBA can be both generic as well as a specialized one in Tourism Management.

Entrance to these courses is via the TNPC EE (Tamil Nadu Professional Courses Entrance Examination) at the undergrad level. For master’s level entry, the scores of the TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test) and the GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) are taken into consideration. In addition to the different faculty areas and the multitude of course options across the campuses, specific centres also exist. These are there for the purpose of augmenting further research- fundamental and applied- as well as for specific operational areas for the smooth running of the university. There are Centres for – Biotechnology, Aerospace Research, Academic Courses, Distance Education, Entrepreneurship Development, Environmental Studies, Faculty Development, Medical Electronics, Human Settlements, Intellectual Property Rights, Water Resources, Women Empowerment and many more. Industry partnerships are key to the expansion for any university especially those imparting professional education. And that is why a centres has been established for Quality Management in collaboration with the TVS industries. Academic partnerships have not been ignored either. One such example is the Urban Energy Centre established in accordance with the Ryerson University from Toronto in Canada. The Crystal Growth Centre was started in 1982 to abet the growth of faculty members and training methodologies.

This focus on excellence has yielded substantial results on the rankings front. It featured 10th overall in India under the NIRF (National Institutional Rankings Framework), 2018. The same ranking featured the Anna University at 4th among universities and 8th for engineering. The management school was ranked 28th in the country. As part of the highly prestigious QS World University Rankings, the Anna University was placed in the 651-700 band worldwide and in the 301-350th for Asia. Within the BRICS nations, the Anna University secured the 85th place.

One of the biggest strengths of Anna University is its esteemed alumni list. No name would be bigger than former President of India- Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. Another name would be Dr. Verghese Kurien, the founder of Amul, considered the father of the White Revolution in India. Another is HCL Founder and Chairperson- Shiv Nadar. Other prominent names include- AC Muttiah, Ravi Ruia, K Srikanth, Venu Srinivas, Raaghav, GV Prasad and many more.
