Government Women ‘s college established in the year 1971 is a premier women’s college in Mandya Karnataka, India. This affiliated college is situated in the premise of Mandya city and from five decades this college has been providing path to the young women. Located on a vast plot of 15 acres, the college is duly recognised and accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) mandated to maintain the quality standards of the college. The college admits 2,440 students in total and has 60 faculty members at its discretion; it provides 28 courses in 8 degree programs to satisfy the educational and professional needs of different learners.
The college has well-developed facilities meant to support learning and the general development potentials of the learners in their tenure at the institution. A good stock library is the administrative center of academic functions with over 55,000 text books in stock and 45 journals subscribed to. Admission to those streams depends on the candidate's performance in the 12th standard in the relevant subjects, and the college might publish a merit list for seat allocation.
BA Programs: The college offers several combinations in BA such as History, Political Science and Sociology; Economics, Political Science and Sociology; and Criminology, Psychology and Sociology for admission to the BA programs usually on the basis of 12th standard marks, giving preference to those with a higher score in relevant subjects.
B.Com and BBA: Selection for B.Com and BBA programs is based primarily upon candidates' 12th standard marks in commerce and mathematics subjects and preparation of a merit list for allocation of seats.
BSW (Bachelor of Social Work): Admission to the BSW course will be based on 12th standard marks, plus the possibility of an additional aptitude test/interview to determine the applicant's suitability for social work.
Postgraduate Programs (MA, M.Com, M.Sc): Different postgraduate programs offered include MA Kannada, Sociology, History, and Economics; M.Com; and M.Sc in Chemistry.
