GVC College of Education, Vellore Admission Process

GVC College of Education at Vellore, is a co-educational teacher training institute of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). This institute prepares potential teachers in the art of effective teaching by offering bachelor's programs like Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) moving on to merit-based admission. These procedures of admission are governed by the rules framed by the State Government/ Union Territory Administration and the concerned University.

However, the college prefers admission based on two factors. The candidate's performance in a qualifying examination and performance in an entrance examination were used to judge prospective B.Ed students.  If it matters for competitive admission, applicants should remember only that there would be very few seats available. With the affiliation and recognition from NCTE, this college also keeps the standards high for its teacher education, therefore, making it attractive for most aspirants in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu.

Application Process

The GVC College of Education, Vellore admission process runs as follows:

1. Notification: An indication of admissions is given on the college's official website and in local newspapers when the application is beginning.

2. Application Form: Candidates may obtain application forms either by download from the college's website or through a visit to the college campus itself.

3. Fill the Forms: Applicants need to fill out the applications form carefully with correct data in both personal and academic credentials. It is essential to recheck all information before sending to avoid discrepancies.

4. Attached Document: Self-attested photocopies of the following are to be submitted along with the completed application form. 

  • 10th and 12th standard mark sheets
  • Bachelor degree certificate and mark sheet
  • Transfer Certificate from the previously studied institution
  • Conduct Certificate
  • Community Certificate (if applicable)
  • Any other documents or certificates hinted in the admission notification

5. Receipt: The filled application form and all required documents should be submitted to the college admission office within the deadline specified. Late submissions may not be considered.

6. Application Fees: Candidates may have to pay an application fees. The amount of the fee as well as the mode of payment would be mentioned in the admission notification. 

7. Receipt of Acknowledgment: Submission of the application will deliver to the candidate an acknowledgment receipt/application number for further reference.

8. Entrance Test Import: Candidates shall appear for the entrance test on the designated date and venue if required.

9. of Merit List: A merit list based on the qualifying criteria mentioned in the admission process will be prepared and published on the college notice board and website.

10. Counseling and Admission: Successful candidates will be invited for counseling, and once they submit their original documents along with the required fees, their admission will be confirmed.

Admission Procedure According to Degree

Bachelor of Education (B.Ed): The B.Ed course at GVC College of Education is a full-time course over two years, which aims to produce competent teachers who will be able to undertake innovative activities in the field of education. The process of admission to the B.Ed course is as follows:

  1. Eligibility: Candidates should have completed their graduate degree from a recognized/university. Subject requirements vary for different degrees; hence, it is advisable to visit the college website or contact the admission office for the latest eligibility criteria.
  2. Entrance Test: The candidates will have to appear for an entrance test as per direction given by either the State Government or University guidelines. The test generally measures the level of a candidate's aptitude towards teaching with general knowledge.
  3. Merit List: The last selection will be based on a merit list formed considering marks obtained in qualifying examinations (undergraduate degree) and /or entrance test scores.
  4. Counseling: Once results are declared, shortlisted candidates will be called for counselling as per which they will select their course-wise specialization based on their merit rank and availability of seats.
  5. Document Verification: Selected Candidates are to present all documents required for verification including mark sheets, transfer certificates and any other certificates as specified by the college.

The B.Ed program at the college has an approved intake of 100 students, which ensures a good student-faculty ratio with 12 faculty members on the current rolls of the institution.
