MET College of Education, Kanyakumari Admission Process

MET College of Education, Kanyakumari, is a co-educational institution that has been recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). The college holds two major disciplines in education courses with the total capacity to take students of 68. MET College of Education admission process is designed to screen suitable candidates for its Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) and Master of Education (M.Ed.) courses.

The institution is governed by the admission policy formulated by the Tamil Nadu state government, the University with which it is associated, and the UT administration. Merit based on the marks secured in the qualifying exam is the major criterion for the selection of candidates. Sometimes an entrance exam or other types of selection procedures may be added to the admission process as per policy.

For the course of B.Ed., having a sanctioned strength of 100 students, the admission is made according to the state government, UT administration, and the affiliated university's fixed policy. For the course of M.Ed., with an approved strength of 50 students, the admission process is also the same, with consideration for the candidate's merit, subject to their performance in the qualifying examination or entrance test.

Application Process

Application process to MET College of Education, Kanyakumari, is done through multi steps so that the right candidates get admissions in B.Ed. and M.Ed. courses. Although dates are specific but always fluctuating annually, the entire process is:

1. Notification: The notification about the commencement of admissions process is given by the college through numerous sources and on the college website.

2. Application Form: Interested candidates must gather and fill in the application form. The same can be downloaded from the website of the college or can be obtained from the college premises.

3. Submission of Documents: Along with the filled-in application form, candidates must submit supporting documents, which are generally:

  • Mark sheets of entrance examinations
  • Transfer Certificate
  • Conduct Certificate
  • Community Certificate (if asked for)
  • Other certificates as needed by the college

4. Entrance Test: As per the existing admission policy, if needed, the applicants are asked to sit for an entrance test. The pattern and syllabus of such tests will be advertised by the college.

5. Preparation of Merit List: Depending on the marks in the qualifying examination and/or performance in the entrance examination, a merit list is prepared.

6. Counselling and Admission: Shortlisted students are invited to counselling, where they can opt for the course of their preference (B.Ed. or M.Ed.) depending on their rank as well as seats available.

7. Payment of Fees: Selected students need to pay the fees as required to secure their admission.

8. Verification of Documents: All documents submitted are duly cross-checked by the college before final admission.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education):
The intake capacity of the B.Ed. program of MET College of Education is approved at 100 students. The admission process of the program is based on merit, calculated on the basis of marks scored in the entrance test. Apart from this, an entrance test or any other admission process can be undertaken as per the policy of the state government, UT Administration, and the affiliated university. The college follows these policies with utmost care to make the admission process transparent and fair.

M.Ed. (Master of Education):
Admission to the M.Ed. programme with a sanctioned admission of 50 students is the same as for the B.Ed. programme. Admission is done on the merit basis, and the merit is calculated on the basis of marks secured in the qualifying examination. An entrance exam could also be included in the selection process, subject to the prevailing policies of the state government, university, or UT administration. The college takes care to ensure that the admission process complies with the norms ordained by these ruling authorities.
