Nalanda College, Biharsharif, was founded in 1870 and is one of the prime educational institutions in the state of Bihar, India. It is a constituent college offering a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various fields. It occupies campus of 11.2 acres with total student enrolment of 4390, of which 87% are undergraduate students while 13% are doing their postgraduate studies. Nalanda College has 56 faculty members and offers 30 courses under 10 degree programs that provide a rich academic environment for the students. It is an NAAC-accredited and AICTE and NCTE-approved institution.
Nalanda College has multifaceted facilities that help in the growth of its students. A Central Library, well-stocked with over 24,000 books and about 800 journals and access to online resources from INFLIBNET, with state-of-the-art Laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, and Biotechnology departments, ensure hands-on learning experience. The entire campus is Wi-Fi-enabled, with about 20 hotspots that provide seamlessness of connectivity. Extracurricular activities are accommodated by a large playground for sports events and a 500-seat auditorium for cultural programs and other meetings. It also has an all-girls hostel that is well-built, keeping their comfort and security in mind.
Nalanda College runs a wide range of academic courses—30 courses at different levels. The notable courses are the MCA with 60 seats, the MBA with 60 seats, and B.Ed with 100 seats. At the undergraduate level, there are many BA and BSc Hons courses available in such subjects as Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Mathematics, Hindi, English, Geography, Economics, Philosophy, and Political Science.

The admission process at Nalanda College is different for different programs. In the case of postgraduate courses, like MCA and MBA, the selection is made through the PG-CET, which the university organises. The courses are allotted to the eligible candidates based on the ranking/scores obtained and university allocations. The institute also accepts CAT and MAT scores for admission in the MBA course. Nalanda College, Biharsharif, offers 13 undergraduate and postgraduate programs. May-June is generally when admissions take place, with the academic year kicking off in August-September. The undergraduate admissions process is primarily on a merit basis via an entrance examination (10+2). Students may be able to get a B.A. or B.Sc. Honors degree at the institution with different options such as learning Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Mathematics, Hindi, and English Geography, Economics Philosophy, and Political Science. Postgraduate admissions depend on a specific program. Selection of students for MCA and MBA courses relies mainly on their score by PG-CET (Post Graduate Common Entrance Test) conducted at the university level.
This score is also valid for CAT (Common Admission Test) and MAT (Management Aptitude Test). The admissions to this program are based on the qualifying examination and/or an entrance exam as per the policies prescribed by state government and university. All the important information according to the program shall be provided to the candidates at the entry point. B.Ed.: There will be an admission of 100 students under the B.Ed course of Nalanda College. The selection would depend upon the merit list according to marks secured by a candidate in the qualifying examination and/or the entrance examination. The selection process shall be governed by the policy of the state government and that of the university.
MCA: This program Master of Computer Applications consists of a total of 60 seats. The entry into this program is strictly based on the result of the student in PG-CET, conducted at a university level. The successful candidates in PG-CET will get their seats allotted on the basis of marks obtained by them and university allocation.
MBA: The Master of Business Administration contains 60 seats for admission into these programs. The basis for admission is through the evaluation of the scores obtained through CAT, MAT, or university-level PG-CET. The selected students will then be admitted depending on the scores and upon the university allocation process.
B.Sc. (Honours): Various courses under B.Sc Honours offered by the college are in Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, and Mathematics. These programs are usually on merit bases and depend on the secured marks in the qualifying examinations of 10+2.
BA (Honours): There are other honors courses under BA such as Hindi, English, Geography, Economics, Philosophy, Political science, and History which are taught in Nalanda College. Admission to these programs is also merit-based with respect to the performance of the candidate from the examination of 10+2.
M.Sc.: The modular programs for M.Sc are offered in Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, and Mathematics. These postgraduate programs usually base their admission criteria on the performance of students in the relevant bachelor's degree and/or an entrance examination.
College infrastructure is good comparing to any other Government College you can say this college not private college but this college is so good when we see other Government College so I can say infrastructure is much more decent from any other colleges in Bihar Sharif.
