Naxatra Institute of Media Studies has been started in Bhubaneswar with the express intention of propagating advanced studies in journalism and related fields under media sciences. The selection and admission procedure at the Naxatra Institute is, in fact, meant to select candidates through fairly tough practical tests who have sufficient interest and ability to study media and journalism.
The Master's in Journalism (MJ) course is a full-time postgraduate course of two years, the decision on which is taken on the basis of selection of a few of the best, right-fit candidates. This program aims at imparting students with that knowledge and skill to get prepared for a gradually changing world of journalism. The admission cycle for this course follows the academic calendar, with applications being probably opened in the months prior to commencement of the academic session.

Master of Journalism (MJ):
The Master in Journalism is the biggest program in the Naxatra Institute of Media Studies. This is a two-year full-time postgraduate program that trains students in far-reaching aspects of journalism like print, broadcast, and new media. There will likely be a range of subject areas designed to equip students for the tough demands of contemporary journalism.
However, entry into this MJ program shall depend upon the institute's selection criteria as stated above, which may include academic performances derived from the bachelor's degree, relevant experience, and possibly result from entrance tests or interviews. It would be a limited intake program, hence more focused attention on the individual. Interested candidates should demonstrate good language skills, critical thinking ability, and a particular interest in current affairs.

The duration of BJMC course is about 3 years and the fees is about 30,000 to 2.75 Lakhs annually and it really depends on college to college .The entry to colleges for this course is purely merit based and the exams generally accepted for BJMC course are SET, IPU CET .
