PGP College of Education, Namakkal Admission Process

PGP College of Education, Namakkal, a leading institute for teacher education in Tamil Nadu, India, has been established primarily for imparting two degree programs in education:Bachelor of Education-B.Ed and Master of Education-M.Ed.  Normally, the admission process is conducted around July-August, which is the interest of opening an academic year. Applicants who desire to apply can get the dates and the details for a given year on the college website or inquire at the admission office regarding any modifications. Selection for admission to the B.Ed. and M.Ed. courses is strictly on merit basis. The college assists in preparing a common merit list following the stipulations set up by the state government, the affiliate university, and the Union Territory (UT) administration. 

Eligibility criteria for B.Ed. applicants include:

  1. A pass in a degree or its equivalent from a recognized university.
  2. Minimum percentage set by the state government or the affiliate university (most probably fifty percent or above).
  3. Must qualify in the entrance examination wherever applicable.

Admission criteria for M.Ed. generally include:

  1. A B.Ed. degree or its equivalent awarded by a recognized university.
  2. Minimum percentage set by the state government or the affiliate university (most probably fifty-five percent or above).
  3. Must necessarily take the entrance examination (where applicable).

Process Application

1. Announcement for Admissions: This entails a declaration from the college announcing the schedule for admission on the official website and other media channels.

2. Application Form: An application form may be collected from college premises or downloaded from the college website. A fully online application process may be there in some years.

3. Filling Application Form: Candidates will then be required to pay serious attention to filling the application form correctly with personal and educational qualifications.

Admission Process Degree wise

B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education): The sanctioned intake for this course at PGP College of Education, Namakkal, is 100. The admission procedure for this course has been drawn up purely by merit on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination and/or in an entrance test. The selection shall also include any other method as prescribed by the state government, UT administration, or the affiliate university. The two-year course trains students to teach at the secondary and higher secondary levels.

M.Ed. Program: The M.Ed. consists of 50 seats which are available under a similar admission policy as that of the B.Ed. The merit of a candidate shall depend on their performance in the B.Ed. (or equivalent) qualifying examination and/or any other entrance examination, along with other criteria that the state government, university, or UT administration may prescribe for inclusion in the selection. The postgraduate program, with a duration of two years, concentrates on professional development for careers within education with an emphasis on theory, research, and leadership in the educational field.
