Shimla College of Education, Shimla (SCE) initiated its activities to meet the growing demand of quality teachers in the future. The college runs different undergraduate/postgraduate programmes in education and has a complete admission process, fully compliant with the policies of the State Government, Central Government, and University Administration. Shimla College of Education admission policy is based on the merit of the course and tests scores in the qualifying examination, and maybe an entrance exam in certain cases.

Eligibility criteria are dependent on programmes for admission into SCE. Candidates need to complete their qualifying examination from boards or universities recognized as per the standards. Also, candidates of B.Ed and M.Ed degree programmes may have to appear for the entrance examination, following the directives of governing bodies in this regard. SCE accepts entrance tests into different programmes. Therefore, candidates should prepare for such tests using the syllabus and previous years' question papers for orientation.
The courses that are offered by the Shimla College of Education are complete three without having any part-time course and three full time courses relating to the education stream is three only. Students can check the course details mentioned below
B.Ed: SCE has an intake for B.Ed of 100 students. Admission to the B.Ed programme will be based on merit based on marks obtained for qualifying examination and entrance examination. It may also include other criteria as per the policy of the State Government, Central Government, or University Administration.
M.Ed: Approved in-take for SCE in the M.Ed programme is 50 students. M.Ed admission is also very much similar to that of the B.Ed programme. It will be merit-based for the qualifying examination and the entrance examination. Extra selection criteria would be included as per the guidelines set by the relevant governing bodies.
D.El.Ed: The Diploma in Elementary Education programme has an approved in-take of 100 students. Shimla College of Education admission into the D.El.Ed programme will be entirely based on merit marks secured in the qualifying examination. The college may also conduct an entrance examination or use other selection methods as per the policies of the state government or UT administration.
