Markanda National College, Shahabad Markanda is a premier institution located in Kurukshetra, Haryana. As an affiliated college accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council(NAAC), the College follows a systematic admission process to identify deserving candidates for various academic programs.
The admission cycle at Markanda National College normally goes in line with the calendar of the university to which it is accorded, the admission process usually commences a few months ahead of the commencement of the academic session. Academic merit is the primary criterion for the admission of most programs at the College. The undergraduate programs of BA, B.Sc, and B.Com admit candidates with successful completion of 10+2 education from a recognized board. The total number of seats available for BA in the college is 320; for B.Sc there are 100 seats (60 for B.Sc Non-Medical and 40 for B.Sc Computer Science), and for B.Com there are 80 seats. For postgraduate programs like MA English and PGD Yoga, there are 40 seats each, and candidates must possess the requisite bachelor degree to be considered eligible.
Application Process
Markanda National College, Shahabad Markanda designs its admission procedure to be simple and easy for the benefit of all the eligible candidates. The application procedure is further elaborated in person.
1. Notification: Notifications regarding admissions are publicized via various media and on the college's official website. Prospective students must keep themselves updated from these sources.
2. Application Form: The application form can be obtained from the college campus or downloaded from the official website. Programs can also offer the facility to make an online application.
3. Form Filling: Applicants must correctly fill in the application form with their personal information and academic history. Applicants must review all the information before submission.
4. Document Submission: Candidates should submit self-attested copies of the following documents with the completed application form:
a. 10th and 12th mark sheets/certificates;
b. Character certificate from the last institution attended;
c. Transfer certificate (if applicable);
d. Caste certificate (for reserved category candidates);
e. Recent passport-size photographs.
5. Application Fee: Candidates will pay the application fee as prescribed. The amount and mode of payment (cash, demand draft, or online transfer) will be informed in an admission notification.
6. Submission: The college admission office should receive completed application forms with all required documents and the application fee receipt before the deadline.
7. Merit List: The college shall prepare and publish merit lists based on the laid down criteria for each program. These lists are usually put up on the notice board and on the website of the college.
8. Counseling and Admission: Shortlisted candidates for various programs may be called for counseling on which program they are interested in. The final admission will be on the basis of merit and seat availability.

Degree wise Admission Process
BA: There are 320 seats in the Bachelor of Arts program at Markanda National College. The merit of the candidates at the 10+2 level is the basic criterion for admission. The college may consider any one of three different criteria: the overall percentage, marks in specific subject(s), or marks in a combination of subjects depending on the specialization offered under BA program.
B.Com: The B.Com program has an intake of 80 students with emphasis on academic merit in the 10+2 examinations among the commerce subjects. Hence subjects concerned with commerce are under focus in the selection process so that the candidates possessed a strong foundation in those subjects.
B.Sc Non-Medical: With an intake of 60 seats, the students are selected with a background in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects in the 10+2 examinations will be the basis of admission, with preference being given to higher-scoring candidates in science subjects.
B.Sc Computer Science: This program offers 40 seats to students wishing to establish a career in computer science. Admission will be by academic performance in 10+2, with the emphasis being put on mathematics and computer science-related subjects.
MA English: There are 40 seats in a postgraduate program of English for candidates who have undergone a degree with English as one of the subjects. Admissions may also take into consideration the performance in the undergraduate English courses.
PGD Yoga: This program of one year post-graduation diploma is open for 40 seats to anyone who has passed graduation in any discipline. The admission process may include an assessment based on the candidate's interest and aptitude in yoga, along with academic qualifications.
