Mohiniganj Ideal Teachers Training College, located in Uttar Dinajpur, West Bengal, is a noteworthy institution that focuses completely on training future teachers. The college's admissions process is meant to funnel the deserving into the two major programs of the college, the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) program as well as that of Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed):

Merit Admission system: - As per rules, admission will be given on the following basis: Merit will consider the marks obtained in qualifying examinations and/or entrance examinations. For both B.Ed and D.El.Ed programs, admissions will be coming under the regulations laid down by the state government of West Bengal, UT administrations, and the university to which the college is affiliated.

The eligibility criteria for admission to programs offered by the college are in accordance with the directives of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Candidates must have passed their undergraduate degree or any equivalent degree from a recognized university for the B.Ed program. Meanwhile, for the D.El.Ed program, it is required that the candidates have completed their higher secondary education (10+2) from a recognized board.

Application Process

1. Admission Announcements
The college makes a public announcement about the commencement of admissions through formal channels.

2. Application Form
Those eligible will also have to collect and fill out forms for application. Either online or in person at the college admission office, the application format will be made available.

3. Document Submission
Along with the completed application form, candidates must attach the following documents:

  • Mark sheets of qualifying examinations (10th, 12th, and graduation for B.Ed; 10th and 12th for D.El.Ed)

  • Recent passport-sized photographs

4. Application Fee
The applicant has to pay an amount as application fee according to the stipulations laid down by the institution. The variation and mode of payment will be specified in the admission notifications.

5. Entrance Examination
The candidates will appear for an entrance examination where applicable, according to the final terms laid down by the state government or the university itself.

6. Merit List
It prepares a merit list of candidates eligible with grades in qualifying examinations and/or such performance in entrance examinations.

7. Counseling and Admission
Candidates shortlisted will be invited for counseling to choose their preferred course (B.Ed or D.El.Ed) according to rank and seat allocation.

8. Payment of Fees
Candidates must pay the course fee within the prescribed time after securing the seat.

Degree-wise Admission Process

B.Ed (Bachelor of Education)
The duration of the B.Ed course is a full-time course of two years which has a sanctioned intake of 50 seats. Admission is based on merit, and considering the marks scored in the qualifying exam and/or entrance exam. Eligible students must have a bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university.

D.El.Ed. (Diploma in Elementary Education)
The D.El.Ed course is also a two-year-long full-time program with an approved intake of 100 seats. Admission would be purely on the basis of merit as per state government policies regarding the program. The selection criteria include having completed higher secondary education (10+2) from a recognized board. Selection may also be based on marks and/or performance in an entrance test.
