About National Institute of Social Work and Social Sciences, Bhubaneswar

The National Institute of Social work and Social Sciences (NISWASS) is an educational unit was founded in the year 1971, situated in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. This affiliated college is located on an extensive area of land and has been preparing social work professionals for over five decades. NISWASS delivers 7 courses of Study in three programmes which include social work/Social Science and Vocational Studies. Currently, the institute has 46 students and has 5 faculty members making it easier for each student to be taught. NISWASS is also fully committed towards an overall voyage of social work education by providing students full conditional programmes that related to various aspects of social work and community formation.

Listed below are some of the outstanding facilities that are in NISWASS to improve learning environment and encourage academic activities. The institute, has a small library but it contains recent edition of the books related to social work and social sciences along with other fields of study which are useful for students and faculty members. These include a girls hostel wherein female students from different parts of the state can comfortably stay because of the closely security provided by the campus. In order to increase an organisation’s capacity in the current era, Non-profit University such as National Institute of Social work and Social Sciences has developed an advanced IT infrastructure; a computer centre that provides certificate and diploma in computer applications. In this case the institute has established an English language laboratory for the students to enable them polish on the language for their future jobs. NISWASS has provisions for sports and games, a canteen and also has an interior court for accommodating cultural and seminar activities.

Currently the institute provides students with a broad spectrum of courses comprising of four master’s programmes, one bachelor’s programme, two vocational courses. The MA programmes include Social Work, Social Communication, Rural Management an Gandhian Studies and Buddhist Studies. At the undergraduate level NISWASS offers the Bachelor of Arts in Social Work. Further, to meet ongoing social requirements, the institute has come up with newly launched B.Voc programmes that are Early Child Development and Child Protection. These are all full-time, campus based programmes that are intended to give the students comprehensive knowledge of their respective fields, and valuable practical experience.

Degree wise Admission Process
