North Bengal Teachers Training College, located in the north-eastern part of West Bengal, is one of the premier teacher training institutes in India. The objective of the North Bengal Teachers Training College admission system is to select the most competent and motivated candidates for its teacher education programs.
The College follows Merit System of Admission which is by rule of the state government and affiliated university. Subjects of B.Ed. and D.El.Ed programme admission are done on merit, that is, with respect to marks secured in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination. The college strictly follows the rules of admission promulgated so as to ensure a transparent and fair conduct of the selection process. Such recognition by the national council for teacher education is a guarantee of high standards in the teaching learning process of teacher training.
Application Process
The steps involved in the admission procedure at North Bengal Teachers Training College are as follows:
Admission Notification: This is when various media shall be made aware of the commencement of the admission process notification.
Application: Candidates will obtain their application forms, fill them out, and hand them in by the application deadline.
Document Submission: The candidate submits the duly filled application form along with documents. These documents usually include:
Mark sheets of qualifying examinations
Entrance exam score card (if applicable)
Proof of date of birth
Category certificate (if applicable)
Any other documents as specified by the college
Preparation of Merit List: The college prepares a merit list on the basis of marks secured in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination according to the policies prescribed by the state government and the university.
Counselling and Admission: The shortlisted candidates may be called to attend a counselling session in which they will choose the course for admission (B.Ed. or D.El.Ed) according to their merit rank and the availability of seats.

Degree-wise Admission Process
B.Ed.:
North Bengal Teachers' Training College is an institution with the approval to admit 100 sanctioned students to the B.Ed. programme. Admission to the B.Ed. course is merit-based; hence, selection is on the basis marks obtained in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examinations according to policies prescribed by the State Government and the university with which it is allied. This is a full-time, two-year course that aims to train the new breed of teacher educators holistically.
D.El.Ed.:
The number of sanctioned students for the D.El.Ed programme is 50. Selection into D.El.Ed. is again done on the same basis as based on merits, i.e, based on the marks scored in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination as per the rules set by the State. This two-year programme urges candidates into primary education teachers.
