Indian Institute of Information Technology, Kottayam is one of the many information technology national institutes established in India. It is a PPP model institute, which is the institute, is founded and managed in public and private partnership. In this, the central government, the state government of Kerala, and industry partners are involved in the 50:35:15 ratio. Institute is part of the central government's drive to lessen the supply and demand gap in the IT sector. The Indian institute of information technology, Kottayam is located in Valavoor, Palai, Kerala. The year of establishment is 2015, as per the IIIT PPP bill.

The institute was originally operating from their temporary campuses at Thiruvananthapuram. But, from 2019, the institute started functioning from its permanent campus at Valavoor which is situated between Thiruvananthapuram and Cochin. The institute provides its students with top-class facilities and academic amenities from a well-planned campus to highly experienced faculty. The institute offers B.Tech., M.Tech., and PhD programmes in various engineering domains. The specializations added to the institute's programmes are as per the need of the market and industry. The admission in the undergraduate programme is through JEE MAINS, while the post-graduate and doctoral programmes take admission through merit and college-based counselling.

Location

Originally after the establishment of the Indian institute of information technology, Kottayam was operating from the temporary campuses of Amal Jyothi engineering college and GIFT campus. But, in 2019, the permanent campus was inaugurated, and the college operations shifted. The permanent campus of the Indian institute of information technology, Kottayam is in Valavoor, Palai, Kerala.

The entire campus is built on a large area that is supported and provisioned with wind and solar energy. The campus is located between Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram. The nearest bus station is the Valavoor bust stand at a distance of 1 km. Cochin international airport is the nearest at a distance of 67km and Kottayam railway station at a distance of 33 km.

Clubs and committees

WildBeats: This is a cultural club and is responsible for bringing out culture and a sense of community among the students. They are responsible for organizing various cultural events across the year.

BetaLABS: This is a coding club, in which the students can actively take part. The main objective of this club is to help the students learn and gather knowledge about coding. Seminars and webinars are organized along with various activities for students to take part in.

Trendles club: Trendles club is a social awareness club that focuses on the social wakening of the students. The club motivates students to keep themselves aware of the national and international news and updates and also boost their photography skills.

Sportec: The Sportec club is the sports club which helps in building sportsmanship in the students. The club organizes various sports competitions and activities throughout the year.

Facilities

Indian Institute of Information Technology, Kottayam has a plush campus which is designed to provide all types of facilities and amenities to the students. There is a separate academic block that comprises classrooms, library, halls, and seminar rooms. All three programmes have different specializations. The B.Tech programme is for 4 years, M. Tech. is for 2 years, and PhD is for 6 years. Also, the M. The admissions to the Indian institute of information technology, Kottayam are based on high secondary scores and the entrance exams. Each programme has its own selection process, as the B.Tech programme is selected through the joint entrance exam, and the rest is through interviews and internal counselling. Admission for B. Tech. course

-        Submit the required information along with the documents required.

-        The selected students will be called for an interview.

-        Those who get selected from the personal interview will be given a seat in the M.Tech programme.

-        For taking admission to the PhD programme, the applicant should have a B.Tech and M. Tech. degree in the engineering field.

-        The PhD programme is there for both regular and part-time students.

-        One will have to apply through the online application portal.

-        Submit the required documents to the portal.

-        The students will be called for a qualifying exam that is held by the Indian Institute Of Information Technology, Kottayam.

Since last, the placement percentage has increased along with the highest package offered an average package. The training and placement cell of the institute prepares the students and trains them to make them industry-ready.
