About College

The Institute for Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI) was started back in the year 1984. The same year, also saw the opening of the ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education (IFHE) come in to being in Hyderabad, then the capital of undivided Andhra Pradesh (AP). The IFHE is right now, one of the leading educational groups in the country. Its tentacles spread far and wide, across multiple locations in India. Some of the leading cities with presence of IFHE centres include the likes of- Kolkata, Mumbai, Shimla, Gurugram, Jaipur, Dehradun, Pune, Agartala, Gangtok, Hyderabad, Shillong, Raipur, Ahmedabad, Kohima, Ranchi and of course in Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka.

These institutions exist under two broad brand names- the ICFAI University and the IBS (ICFAI Business School). The IBS in Bengaluru is an independent professional institute, not affiliated to any government body. The college was founded in the year 1995. Due to its independent status, the college only offers the autonomous PGPM (Post Graduate Programme in Management). It is a two- year programme. Students may choose specializations between Finance, Marketing, Operations, Entrepreneurship, Human Resource Management (HRM) and for IT & Systems. The IBS Mumbai remains committed to the field of management education, so has not felt the need to expand to other academic areas.

Students are selected using the IFHE’s own test, the IBSAT (IBS Aptitude Test). Post the results of the concerned tests being declared, shortlisted students need to appear for the PI (Personal Interview) and GD (Group Discussion) or WAT (Written Ability Test) round. The IBS Bengaluru also conducts its own leadership development programmes for students, as well as working professionals. These sessions include training on soft skills. The methodology applied is using the renowned case method, and the use of extra- curricular activities. The IFHE even has its case building team, so first- hand cases can be developed to further aid this.

The IBSCDC (Case Development Centre) is in fact, the Asia- Pacific region’s largest repository for management- related case studies. As research is accorded top priority here, there is also the ICMR (IBS Centre for Management Research). Several of the top corporates also use the cases and research developed by the ICMR. This includes the likes of KPMG, British Telecom, Johnson & Johnson, PwC, Coca- Cola, McKinsey, Siemens AG, P&G, BCG, HP, plus a few more. Even international management institutions and educational bodies make use of these case studies. This includes the London Business School, Princeton, Kellogg, HBS, INSEAD, IMB, University of Michigan, University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, University of Helsinki and some more.

The campus has much to offer. Facilities are there for some indoor games. The gymnasium may also be used by all. A large auditorium is there to facilitate major events, at both intra and inter college level. The campus is Wi- Fi enabled. Science laboratories have the latest of equipment. A health centre is also there to cater to medical emergencies. Hygienic food is served at the college cafeteria. The library here is one of the best stocked within the region. Besides the physical books on display, it also provides digital access to en number of international academic journals for research and academic purposes.

As part of the research that the college does, a newsletter also gets published, to chronicle the findings on- campus. This one is more of a student- led initiative. This newsletter is known as the IBS Business Leader. Several student clubs are also present, ensuring that the campus life remains vibrant. Fun co- exists with the serious side of studies and recruitments. All this has led, to an increasingly more exalted position across ranking platforms. The Careers 360 magazine for instance has placed the IBS Dehradun within the AA+ category among institutions offering an MBA. The campus placements have also improved over the years.

The college is really nice and helps in making the learning experience nice. The faculties are very helpful and the chances for extracurricular are immense. The cross-cultural exchanges help us in understanding the personalities in a different manner. The learning environment is really nice and gives a lot of scope for improvement.

A True Place to Explore management knowledge....!

Posted on 07 Dec' 15 by RAMA
Batch of Jan. 1, 2014
Hi, friends..!! I am just giving my own personal opinion and experience which I had in this campus. So here it is-: I completed my MBA in 2014. When I joined the IBS (ICFAI) Business School Bangalore I opted for PGPM+MBA. Before joining IBS, I had some fear in my mind that whether it is UGC recognized or not or else what will happen after 2 years of management knowledge. So here is my point that IBS (ICFAI) Business School is an autonomous body and comes under ICFAI Group (Recognized By U.G.C). So, they (Bangalore, Pune, Kolkata, Gurgaon, Mumbai) are giving PGPM (Post Graduate Programme in Management) like other famous campuses for example-: ISB, MDI, SP Jain, or Great lakes etc are giving PGPM. Hence, I also opted for the MBA. So, at the end of two years, I also got the MBA degree from the ICFAI UNIVERSITY, Dehradun (A Famous U.G.C recognized University). So, in terms of degree I got the most authentic, relevant and U.G.C recognized one. 1.About IBS Bangalore College infrastructure- It is a beautiful campus with having all sorts of facilities. I really found better than many other IBS campuses and also among other MBA colleges. 2.College Placement- I really found that college is giving decent placement in terms of package i.e Avg around 5.6 Lakh p.a. because if you join as a fresher you cannot expect better than this. So, in terms of ROI yes you will get it very soon without having much burden. Most important thing is you will get a chance to work in a branded MNC with a good profile. 3. Industry Exposure- Industry exposure is really good having the strongest alumni in Bangalore and as well as in entire INDIA. Many Seniors alumni used to come to IBS Bangalore campus as a guest lecturers to share their own practical experience and achievements in the corporate world to the students. So yes, that is something a great plus point to experience it. 4.Faculty-- Faculties are highly educated i.e. maximum of them have a masters degree (MBA, P.hD, M.Tech,) and have industry experience. I honestly found that faculties are helpful in nature and they always think for the benefit of students. 5.College Life- I found that College life is good but not that much awesome in terms of having fun, but you will learn a lot of practical things by joining Business clubs & E-Cell (NEEV) which is actually required in the corporate world to adapt. 6. Hostel- Hostel life is something which you will spend time with your classmates, exchange of knowledge will always be there. So there are some merits and demerits of hostel life. The Only demerit is related with food and if you are a north Indian you definitely gonna miss your home food. Last but not the least if you join the IBS (ICFAI) Business School Bangalore you will get the best thing which you supposed to get it but at the same time you also have to give your 300% at-least for yourself. If you can do that, definitely I can say that the sky is the limit...!!

This is a good college with excellent faculties whose teaching methodology is superb. A lot of industry exposure can be gained from this college. There are many clubs and committees in the campus like- placement committee; eco club; speaker's club etc. which ensure our 100% personality development. Campus is quite good with lots of greenery in the campus. Hostel is within the campus area itself. Sometimes night classes are also held which are taken by guest faculties. Main disadvantage of the college is its distance from the Bangalore city and the food of the hostel. The food is not so good. Leaving this it is a good college with around 5-5.5 lakhs per annum of average salary records.

After studying at IBS Hyderabad for two years, one thing I can definitely say is that this college is famous for its club life i.e it has 29 clubs working in different domains, and each and every club striving to achieve and make new records every year which help in providing a very good platform for students to test their theoretical knowledge and also provide industry exposure through client servicing. List of Clubs at IBS: Club / Cell Focus Admire -- Advertising and Branding Aaina -- Creative Writing and Art ARC -- Alumni Relations Cell Campus Vani-- Official Local Area Radio Convergence -- Human Resource Diatribe -- Rock Band of IBS Hyderabad DOT -- Science & Technology Ecobizz -- Business, Economics & Public Policy FinStreet-- Financial Markets Gray Matters -- Quiz Club of IBS Hyderabad IBS Blues-- Swimming & Water Sports Infinity Studios -- Movies Kaizen -- Operations Maçon -- The Entrepreneurship Cell of IBS Hyderabad Maverick -- Marketing and Strategy Mess Committee -- Canteens & Mess Money Matters -- Money and Banking Nazaria -- Photography Club of IBS Hyderabad Newswire -- News Media Prakriti -- Nature, Environment & Adventure Prayaas -- External Events & Competitions Samavesh -- Cultural Club of IBS Hyderabad Sankalp -- Leadership & Nation Building Spandana -- Editorial Team – Annual Magazine Speak-Up -- Debate, Public Speaking & Soft Skills Stu-z -- Student Zone on Intranet Una Voce -- Choral & Group Singing VAPS -- Sports & Games Xpressionz -- Theatre Society YES Club -- Social Causes Secondly, the best part about IBS is case study based classroom learning program. The university has its own case research center called ICMR and it also provides cases from Harvard Business School. Another things is we have great hostel life, with very high speed internet of speed upto 20 MBPS and single occupany room for everyone. To sum up all I would say this is the best private B-School in India, if we look it from a holistic view point.

rahul 9th Jul, 2019

i would say that govt universities are always good for Future because you must have something as security in your hand and you never kniow the future of PVT universities.as per placement i can say you can choose the colleges which are situated in hub of corporates because if we are talking about BBA its a managment course in which all corporates are targeted for Job.so as per colleges list which is mention here i will suggest as per record IBMR Gurgaon has good academic and placement records.facutioes are good there always support the students.Good environment.

Akshat Shah 10th Apr, 2019

First thing is that IBS has a huge brand name But from last 4-5 years it goes in to downward direction.its like broken boat shinking in water..Fees of IBS banglore is approx 8 lac for 2 years..& they gives PGPX degree which is not AICTE approved..So if you want MBA degree then they provide that degree from their another campus which will be charged 25K per sem differently..&the placements are not that much..average package is around 5-6 lac PA..So i wouod like to suggest that if you bave any other Call better then this then u cn go for it..Ow ye dubte ka sahara he..
