Batch of 2018 | BE Electronics and Communication Engineering
The campus has excellent labs to conduct experiments with a good number of students, classrooms few are air-conditioned. The staff is excellent, takes up pain to explain the stuff in the best possible way. College never leaves any stone unturned for student's placement but still not all my batch-mates got placed.

It is tiring and depressing more than it needs to be.

See the infrastructure is pretty good for the fee. But it lacks a few things. The condition of the library isn't all that great. It gets especially hot and humid there in summers which means it's harder to sit in it for longer durations. And there aren't many other places to sit except outside where there's a lot of dust. One can sit in the cafeteria and the food court but they don't allow you to use your laptops or study there because of the rush. Not that you can since there's too much noise anyway. Talking about faculty now. Since more faculty is young, some of them do not have enough exposure themselves so as to guide the students in the best possible direction, although they do try and it is admirable. There's a lot of show off in this college. They organise workshops, sure but hardly any of them actually provide you enough knowledge to go out there in the real world and accomplish something. Because of which, if you're really serious, then you don't really feel like going to those workshops as they're a waste of time. Also, 75% attendance is compulsory. And unless you take part in organising a lot of things, it's hard to make up for it especially if you want to devote yourself completely and immersively to your core stream. And there are way too many restrictions like you can't go outside the college without a gate pass. It just doesn't feel like a proper college should. In my opinion, it should have a better library and a place to sit and study outside of the library without much noise and distractions. For better industry exposure, there should be more of the workshops of value i.e. less show-off and more knowledge. However, not all is bad. In terms of affordability, they provide you with a lot of stuff. Transportation is cheap. Semester fee is cheap as compared to many other private institutes. And the faculty does do their best to provide the students with knowledge.

Great Placements

Only take this college if you are very serious about studying and making a career in engineering. It is because the college has a great placement record but only for those who have really worked on some good projects. Others are placed but you can get that type of placement at any college with half the fees. Make an investment this big only if you will be serious. If you think engineering is not your cup of tea and do it just for graduation, simply don't take it. The college provides many good resources but you need to grab it yourself.

Bad choice

Batch of 2017 | BE Mechanical Engineering
Bad placements, rowdy crowds, mediocre class environment. The admin is just interested in maximizing profits without paying any attention towards student development. The students are left mostly on their own without any help. Would not recomend this college to anyone.

General Information

About College: The Chitkara University owes its origin to the Chitkara Education Trust that was founded in the year 1998 in Chandigarh. The first foray into formal education was in the year 2002, with the establishment of the Chitkara Institute of Engineering and Technology (CIET). This manifested into a full- fledged university in 2010. Another campus was set up in the state of Himachal Pradesh (HP), set up in 2009 in the city of Solan. Both these universities are recognized by the UGC (University Grants Commission) and accredited by the NAAC (National Assessments and Accreditation Council). There are a range of academic options at both the Solan and Patiala campuses, right from the undergrad till doctoral levels. The Chitkara University in Patiala is built over 80 acres of land.
