Established in 2008, the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram was established by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. IISER TVM is the ‘Institute of National Importance. IISER TVM has four schools namely the School of Biological Sciences, School of Mathematical Sciences, School of Chemical Sciences and School of Physical Sciences. IISER TVM offers BS and MS dual degrees, integrated Ph.D. and Ph.D. in the following disciplines: Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Mathematics and interdisciplinary areas. Candidates are offered admissions at IISER TVM to BS and MS dual degrees, integrated Ph.D., and Ph.D. programmes. It is to be noted that there are only three channels through which IISER TVM admissions to BS and MS dual degree programmes are offered- Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) channel, Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-Advanced) of the Indian Institutes of Technology and State and Central Boards Channel (SCB). For Integrated Ph.D. admissions, there shall be a written test and interview rounds for shortlisted candidates. IISER TVM Ph.D. admissions are offered to selected candidates based on their performance in the interview/interviews.

Admissions are offered through only three channels: Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) channel, Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-Advanced) of the Indian Institutes of Technology and State and Central Boards Channel (SCB).
Students applying for admission in BS and MS dual degree programmes through the SCB channel must appear for IISER Aptitude Test.
IISER Aptitude Test is a computer-based test.
The authorities release separate lists for students applying through different modes.
Candidates must participate in the counselling according to the channel they want admission in.
Last, after the seat allotment process, candidates must report to the specific venue for verification of documents.

The selection process for schools is as follows: School of Biological Sciences- shortlisted candidates are required to attend one or two rounds of online interviews, School of Chemical Sciences- Appear for one or two rounds of online interviews and important point to note is here that JAM qualified candidates only need attend to only one round of online interviews, School of Mathematical Science- appear for only one round of online interview and Physical Sciences- attend online interviews.
Note- The above-mentioned selection procedure is only for shortlisted candidates.
Students admitted through the KVPY mode of admission are offered fellowships as per the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana norms. Under KVPY fellowships, for SA/SX/SB- during B.Sc./B.S./Integrated M.Sc. /M.S./B.Stat./B.Math students are offered a fellowship amount of Rs. 5,000 and contingency grants of Rs. 20,000 and for SA/SX/SB – during M. Sc./Integrated M.Sc. /M.S./M.Math./M.Stat. streams, the fellowship amount offered is Rs. 7,000 and contingency grants of Rs. 28,000.
A total of 122 students were eligible for placements at IISER TVM after completion of undergraduate courses in 2019-20 (as per the data submitted by the institute to NIRF), 13 eligible students were selected and offered job offers with a median salary of Rs. 3,50,000. There were 80 students who opted for higher studies after the completion of the UG course at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research in 2019-20. The institute has a placement cell that ensures that the students are understanding the world of work and this is done by organising various placements activities on the campus such as workshops, guest lectures etc.
The institute offers admission to BS and MS dual degree programmes, integrated Ph.D. and Ph.D. programmes at the undergraduate and doctoral levels. IISER TVM admissions are offered in the following branches: Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Sciences and Biology. Students admitted to IISER TVM are entitled to scholarships. KVPY scholars admitted to the institute in BS and MS dual degrees are offered fellowships according to KVPY norms. Candidates who wish to apply for admission through SCB channel must apply for Aptitude Test called IAT conducted by IISER. The application portal to apply for IAT 2022 will start from April 29, 2022. IAT 2022 will be conducted on July 3, 2022 (2:00 PM to 5:00 PM). So if you are applying through SCB channel you may apply for IAT 2022 from April 29, 2022. In accordance to the previous year reports,the cutoff of OBC NCL was around 80–85 ,so this time considering the increase in seats and less number of applicants going for IAT,a score of 75 would be able to secure a seat in IISER.
