The institute offers admission to BS and MS dual degree programmes, integrated Ph.D. and Ph.D. programmes at the undergraduate and doctoral levels. IISER TVM admissions are offered in the following branches: Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Sciences and Biology. Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram admissions to BS and MS dual degree programmes are offered through three channels: Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) channel, Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-Advanced) of the Indian Institutes of Technology and State and Central Boards Channel (SCB). Students wanting to take admission in BS and MS dual degree programmes through the SCB channel have to appear for the IISER Aptitude Test whereas, admission through KVPY and JEE- Advanced channels are offered direct admissions. IISER Aptitude Test is a computer-based test, consisting of 60 questions conducted in an online mode. An important point- due to the current uncertainty in the board examination due to pandemics, the eligibility criteria for admission to BS and MS dual degree programmes have been modified. It is decided that students must obtain 60% marks (UR category) in class 12th examination or equivalent in the science stream from a recognised board, whereas for SC/ST category candidates the minimum % is 55.
Integrated Ph.D. is a research programme consisting of 14 semesters. Students willing to take admission in integrated Ph.D. programmes must meet the eligibility criteria as laid down by the institute. It is to be noted that students must appear and obtain valid scores in the Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) to be eligible for the interview round for the School of Physics. Students who have applied to the School of Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics will be notified to appear for the written test if they are able to meet the eligibility criteria. Candidates’ performance in the written test shall be the key factor if he/she is going to appear for the interview or not. Candidates aspiring to take admission into the Ph.D. programme at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research must meet the eligibility criteria. The eligibility criteria for different schools will vary and it will depend on the programme a candidate wants to take admission in. Candidates who will fulfil all the eligibility criteria and pass the IISER TVM selection process will only be offered admission to the Ph.D. programmes.

The IISER TVM application process includes two steps: registration and application.
Once candidates have done registration, they can proceed to fill the application form.
Candidates must upload the required documents and pay the application fee.
The application fee is Rs. 2,000 for UR, OBC and EWC categories and Rs. 1,000 for Person with Disabilities students under SC/ST category.

Once the application form is filled, candidates must hit the ‘submit button.
Candidates must upload all the required documents online.
Candidates are required to provide the name/affiliation/contact number and email addresses of two referees in the application form.
Candidates must pay the application fee to complete the application process.
The application fee for UR and OBC candidates is Rs. 500 and Rs. 350 for SC/ST category.
The institute offers 3 dual degrees: BS and MS Biology Dual Degree, BS and MS Chemistry Dual Degree and BS and MS Mathematics Dual Degree. The duration of these courses is 5 years. Candidates are offered IISER TVM UG admission through KVPY/SCB/JEE-Advanced channels only. No other admission channel is available and accepted for IISER TVM UG admissions.

There are only three modes of admission: Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) channel, Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-Advanced) of the Indian Institutes of Technology and State and Central Boards Channel (SCB).
Students applying through SCB channels have to appear for IISER Aptitude Test. The results of the IISER Aptitude Test are released in an online mode only.
Counselling for all three channels are held separately.
Candidates will be called for counselling according to the merit lists of three channels respectively.
Seats are allotted to the candidates based on the merit and choices filled by them.
Once a seat is allotted to a candidate, students must report to the allotted centres for document verification.

First, students need to fulfil the eligibility criteria for admission to Integrated Ph.D. at IISER TVM.
Eligible candidates must fill the application form.
Students have to appear for the written test.
Shortlisted candidates based on their performance in written test have to attend the interview/interviews.
The selection procedure for the School of Biological Sciences: shortlisted candidates based on JAM (BT only) or JGEEBILLS (GS) ranks/scores/marks from each of the two streams will be required to appear for one or two rounds of online interviews.
The selection procedure for the School of Chemical Sciences for Ph.D. Chemistry Integrated: shortlisted candidates are required to appear for one or two rounds of online interviews. JAM qualified candidates need to appear for only one round of interviews.
The selection procedure for the School of Mathematical Sciences for Ph.D.Mathematics Integrated: shortlisted candidates are required to appear for one round of online interviews.

Candidates must pass the selection process according to school and get their documents verified and pay the course fees.
School of Biological Sciences- Candidates must submit a research proposal of 300-400 words which should clearly state the research problems and how will a student solve them. Candidates need to upload this section under ‘statement of purpose’. This SOP will be the main criterion for shortlisting candidates for the interview round. Shortlisted candidates need to appear for an online interview (2 rounds taken within 3 days). Therefore, the final selection of candidates will be made based on the performance of candidates in the interviews.
School of Chemical Sciences- Candidates will be shortlisted based on their marks and shortlisted candidates will be notified to appear for two rounds of online interviews.
School of Mathematical Sciences- Candidates meeting the eligibility criteria will be called for the online interviews and the final selection will be made based on the performance of candidates in the online interviews.
School of Physical Sciences- Candidates shortlisted will be selected based on their performance in the online interviews.
