Every department in VNR has its own particular labs with modern equipment. Recently,an entire floor has been set up for Start-ups, AICTE Idea Lab,Design Thinking and Tinkering Labs.The block which was recently constructed has digital boards in classrooms. The sports facilities should be improved.
Academics
Academics are decent. The faculty in my department, especially, is more open to the students and are always ready to help them out. Yet, the students find it difficult to learn something new because they are mostly occupied with college work as the timetables are pretty rigid.
Placements
Students undergo training from their 2nd semester of college. They are taught the emerging technologies by the industrial experts within those 3 years which make them placement-ready and expose them to the industry.

I am studying my chosen course because it matches my interests and will help me develop the knowledge and skills needed for my future career. The quality of teaching is average. Some teachers explain concepts clearly and are supportive, but the teaching methods are mostly traditional and there is limited use of practical examples, technology, and interactive learning. The curriculum covers the basic subjects required for the course, but it is not fully updated according to current industry trends. More practical training, workshops, internships, and skill-based subjects should be included. Overall, the course provides a basic academic foundation, but improvements are needed in teaching quality,

The quality of placements at my college is below average. Only around 30–40% of students from my B.Tech batch were placed through campus recruitment, mainly in small companies and entry-level technical or support roles. The highest package was approximately ₹5–6 lakh per annum, while the average package was around ₹2.5–3 lakh per annum. Most students received packages between ₹2 lakh and ₹4 lakh per annum. The placement cell organizes a few training sessions and recruitment drives, but the number of visiting companies and opportunities is limited. Students who were placed generally received jobs in software support, testing, sales, customer service, and junior technical positions. The college needs to improve industry connections, placement training, internships, and the quality of recruiting companies. Many students therefore depend on off-campus applications or higher studies for better career opportunities

Its best features are the peaceful environment, approachable teachers, classrooms, library, laboratories, and basic sports facilities. The campus is generally safe and suitable for attending lectures and completing regular academic work. However, the campus also has some limitations. The infrastructure is not very modern, and some laboratories and classrooms require better maintenance. Wi‑Fi connectivity, cleanliness, canteen facilities, and seating areas could be improved. There are also limited recreational spaces and not many large-scale events. Students can participate in technical clubs, coding activities, cultural programmes, seminars, workshops, sports, fresher and farewell events, quiz competitions, debates, and annual college festivals. These activities provide opportunities to improve communication, teamwork, leadership, and practical skills, although the number of active clubs and events may be limited.

Overall, the infrastructure is suitable for academics as well as student activities, and the facilities are generally maintained properly. There is still scope for improvement in terms of advanced equipment, maintenance and availability of some facilities during peak hours.

I am pursuing B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering because I have always been interested in understanding how electronic devices, communication systems and modern technologies work. ECE also gives exposure to both hardware and software, which makes it a versatile engineering field. The quality of teaching at JSS University is generally good. Most of the faculty members are knowledgeable and explain the concepts well, especially when it comes to core subjects and practical applications. The department also focuses on practical learning through laboratories, projects and technical activities. The curriculum is fairly updated and covers important areas such as electronics, communication, programming, digital systems and emerging technologies. The university follows an outcome based approach and includes practical and project based learning. However, I feel that the curriculum could be improved further by adding more industry oriented projects, hands on training and exposure to the latest technologies. Overall, the course provides a good academic foundation, while students need to take additional initiatives through projects, workshops and self learning to stay ahead.

The placement opportunities at JSS University are decent, especially for students who actively prepare and develop skills alongside their academics. The university has a dedicated placement cell that conducts aptitude training, technical sessions, mock interviews, communication and soft skill training. For ECE, students get opportunities in both core and IT related companies. Recruiters have included companies such as Samsung, Bosch, Accenture, TCS, Infosys and Wipro. The ECE department reports an average package of around ₹4.5 LPA. In 2025–26, around 71.2% of students were covered under placements, higher studies or entrepreneurship. The actual placement experience varies depending on the branch, skills and preparation of the student. Students with good technical knowledge, projects, internships and communication skills generally have better opportunities. Overall, the placement support is satisfactory, but students should not depend completely on campus placements and should work on their skills and off campus opportunities as well.

The JSS University campus has a good mix of greenery, academic buildings and recreational spaces. One of the best things about the campus is that there are facilities for both academics and extracurricular activities. The sports facilities are quite good, with options such as badminton, cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, chess and other indoor and outdoor games. Students can participate in various technical and cultural clubs, sports activities, entrepreneurship events, workshops, hackathons, competitions and other college events. There are also opportunities to take part in innovation and startup related activities through initiatives such as IIC and EDC. The best feature of the campus for me is the number of opportunities available outside academics, especially for students who want to participate in sports, technical societies and events. One area that can be improved is the overall campus activity and engagement, as some facilities and events could be made more accessible and frequent for all students. Overall, campus life is fairly active and students can make it enjoyable by getting involved in different societies, sports and events.
