Vinayaka Mission’s Kirupananda Variyar Engineering College (VMKVEC), Salem, Tamil Nadu, was established in 1987 making it one of the oldest engineering colleges in the state. This constituent college of Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation, the campus is a vast area of 61.32 acres. VMKVEC has 23 courses of three degrees in total with 2677 students. It has a compact population of 175 faculty members, thus keeping an ideal student to faculty ratio. Accredited by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), VMKVEC is known to pioneered technical education specially in different disciplines of engineering.
There exist basic infrastructures within the campus that fully support the students in all aspects of their lives. The central library is a vast library of about 12000 sq ft with books, journals, E-journals, CDs, cassettes, etc. In the hostels, Vinayaka Mission’s Kirupananda Variyar Engineering College has provided facilities to accommodate a capacity of 500 boys and 250 girls. These hostels are well equipped with necessary facilities like neat and clean food, clean water supply and recreational facilities. ICT facilities in the college is relatively strong, the college provides a high-speed internet connection i.e. 1GBPS used for academic and research only. Sports enthusiasts can embraces amenities such as badminton, basketball, and volleyball courts besides having grounds that accommodate cricket games besides having the gum boot area.
Engineering specialisation is possible at VMKVEC at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels with various programmes presented. The college offers 23 courses with 14 at the undergraduate level, and 9 at postgraduate level. At entry level for all courses, the total number of students that are admitted is 1,390. Some of the specialty undergraduate degrees include BE Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical and Electronics Engineering and each of them take 120 students. The college also includes new courses such as BE in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, and B.Tech in Biotechnology. Postgraduate level education offered at VMKVEC include Master of Business Management, Computer Aided Design, Power Electronics and Drives and ME programmes in specialisation areas of Power System Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, VLSI Design.

VMKVEC follows the admission control policy regarding the norms made by Supreme Court of India, Gov of India and Gov of TN. The college permits the student performance in the TANCET, and CEETA-PG for postgraduate intakes besides the national competitive examinations. It also provides scholarships to deserving students while 7% of the undergraduate students and all the postgraduate students received some form of sponsorship. The college has good industry interface and the alumni network is very much alive which supports the placement and career. The programme alumni have acquired various positions in popular organisations around the world and some have started businesses on their own.

A range of scholarships is provided by MVKVEC for these deserving students, as well as for economically challenged students. So far, according to the records available, only around 7% of all undergraduate students of 4-year programs and around 60% of all students of 3-year programs are getting some kind of financial assistance or reimbursement. Whereas, 100% of the students who fall into the eligibility of PGs of the 2-year program are covered by financial support. Merit-cum-Means scholarships are also given by the college on the basis of merit cum means. There are also Institute Merit Prizes given to students with top marks.

VMKVEC Salem admission process has an organised and well-planned admission protocol as prescribed by the Supreme Court of India, the Government of India, and the Government of Tamil Nadu for the college. Usually, VMKVEC Salem admission process is scheduled following the academic calendar, mostly beginning in the month of August-September. The undergraduate admissions predominantly depend on the results of the national/state-level entrance examinations and merit of the candidates. VMKVEC Salem admission process is based on merit of entrance examination scores.
VMKVEC runs 14 undergraduate BE/B.Tech programmes, and the most coveted branches of these programmes are Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering. VMKVEC Salem admission process depends on a combination of performance in various entrance examinations and 10+2 marks. For BE in Computer Science and Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, 120 seats are available for each; other programmes have different seat capacities.
The college runs 9 postgraduate ME/M.Tech programmes; it also includes specialised programmes like Power System Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and VLSI Design. VMKVEC Salem admission process for these programmes is primarily done based on CEETA PG scores, followed maybe by an interview round. A person is eligible to be admitted if he/she has a BE/B.Tech degree in the same field. An intake is considered to be 18 seats for an ME programme.
An MBA programme is conducted by VMKVEC through the Department of Management Studies. VMKVEC Salem admission process is primarily based on the scores of TANCET. Infrastructure is quite good and nice in the college. And also have best facilities, Wi-Fi, laboratories are also good and have brand new equipments available. Hostel rooms are good too and the Hostel life is better. Don't have ragging issues .classrooms are spacious and few classes having projectors.
Wi-Fi facility, labs, classrooms and library facilities are available on our campus. The quality of the labs is good, classrooms are big. The quality of the food available in the canteen is good for South Indians. Hostel rooms are huge. Infrastructure of the college is very good.
Infrastructure in our college is decent and good. Atmosphere around the college is pleasant. Wi-Fi is available in the college and hostels 24hrs. Sports ground is there and all types of games can be played. Classrooms are spacious and neat.
