VMKVEC is a center of engineering and technology excellence located in Salem, India. VMKVEC Salem admission process has an organised and well-planned admission protocol as prescribed by the Supreme Court of India, the Government of India, and the Government of Tamil Nadu for the college. Usually, VMKVEC Salem admission process is scheduled following the academic calendar, mostly beginning in the month of August-September. The undergraduate admissions predominantly depend on the results of the national/state-level entrance examinations and merit of the candidates. The postgraduate admissions based on the entrance examinations like TANCET for MBA, and CEETA-PG for ME/M.Tech programmes. The study programmes being either for undergraduate or postgraduate, differ in the standards for eligibility.
In case of the undergraduate engineering programmes, the prospective candidates must pass their 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, and should with a minimum aggregate of about 50% marks in the qualifying examination. Based on various scores attained either on national or any of the state-level entrance examinations, admissions are provided. The undergraduate programme primarily emphasises performance in the state-level engineering entrance examinations. As an example, consideration is given to TANCET scores for the MBA programme among the postgraduate programmes and the CEETA-PG scores apply for ME/M.Tech programmes.

VMKVEC Salem admission process is based on merit of entrance examination scores.
VMKVEC runs 14 undergraduate BE/B.Tech programmes, and the most coveted branches of these programmes are Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering. VMKVEC Salem admission process depends on a combination of performance in various entrance examinations and 10+2 marks. For BE in Computer Science and Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, 120 seats are available for each; other programmes have different seat capacities.
The college runs 9 postgraduate ME/M.Tech programmes; it also includes specialised programmes like Power System Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and VLSI Design. VMKVEC Salem admission process for these programmes is primarily done based on CEETA PG scores, followed maybe by an interview round. A person is eligible to be admitted if he/she has a BE/B.Tech degree in the same field. An intake is considered to be 18 seats for an ME programme.
An MBA programme is conducted by VMKVEC through the Department of Management Studies. VMKVEC Salem admission process is primarily based on the scores of TANCET. Some shortlisted candidates may have further selection rounds, which could include a written test and/or personal interview. The intake for MBA is 60.
