The Government College of Engineering Textile Technology, Serampore (GCETTS Serampore) was established in 1908. Previously, the institution was known as the College of Textile Industry. The GCETTS Serampore is affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, Kolkata. The college offers a total of 6 courses, of which 4 courses are offered at the undergraduate level and 2 courses are offered at the postgraduate level. 

The admission in Government College of Engineering Textile Technology, Serampore are based on the performance of the candidate in the entrance examination (WBJEE/ GATE/ PGET). B.Tech admissions in GCETTS Serampore is based on the scores of WBJEE and PG admissions considers valid ranks of GATE examination scores.

The distance between the Government College and Dum Dum Airport is 21.1 kilometres. The students can travel 65 minutes to the college by taxi from the airport.
