Formerly known as the West Bengal University of Technology. MAKAUT is a public state university established by the Government of West Bengal in 2000. MAUKAT offers a total of 15 courses out of which 2 are UG courses, 12 are PG programmes and 1 doctoral programme. MAUKAT courses are offered across multiple streams like Engineering and Architecture, Computer Application and IT, Management and Business Administration and others. Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAUKAT) has three schools through which the university offers courses namely School of Engineering & Technology (SET), School of Biotechnology & Biological Sciences (SBTBS) and School of Management.

The university is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a grade of ‘B++’ and recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). According to NIRF Ranking 2022, MAUKAT secured 70th position in Engineering and 20th in Architecture categories respectively. The university is spread across a total campus area of 20 acres. MAUKAT Courses

The university offers 15 courses at UG, PG and doctoral levels. MAKAUT courses are offered in full-time mode across multiple streams and branches. The university has different eligibility criteria that the students need to fulfil in order to apply to these courses for admission. The university offers admission to 15 courses at three levels; UG, PG and doctoral.. Some of the courses to which MAUKAT admissions are offered are B.Tech Information Technology, B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering, M.Tech Bioinformatics, M.Sc. Microbiology, M.Sc. Genetics. Candidates desirous of taking admission in B.Tech programmes at MAKAUT must appear for WBJEE conducted by WBJEEB, whereas for M.Tech admissions except for M.Tech Biotechnology, candidates need to appear for PGET conducted by MAKAUT. Students willing to take admission in M.Tech Biotechnology need to appear for GAT-B. For Ph.D. admissions, candidates have to appear for the written test and interview conducted by the university.

• Meet the eligibility criteria for WBJEE conducted by WBJEEB.

• Fill the WBJEE application form.

• Students should download the WBJEE admit cards in an online mode by entering their registration/application number.

• Appear for an exam.

• A merit list will be prepared by WBJEEB.

• Students whose names will be on the merit list can only participate in WBJEE counselling.

• Qualify for WBJEE cutoff

• Participate in WBJEE counselling.

• Choose MAUKAT as the preferred college for admission.

• Complete the admission formalities that include document verification, payment of fees, etc.

• After meeting the eligibility criteria, eligible candidates are required to fill the WB PGET application form.

• While filling the application form, candidates must fill their preferred two cities to appear for the exam.

• PGET admit card releases in an online mode.

• Appear for the exam.

• Candidates can check the PGET result by entering their registration/application number.

• Candidates whose names will be on the merit list are only eligible for counselling.

• Document verification and payment of the course fee is the last step.

Students are offered B.Tech admissions in MAKAUT through WBJEE valid scores. Students can check the WBJEE cutoff by visiting the official website. WBJEE cutoff is released in the form of opening and closing ranks. Closing rank is the minimum rank at which admission is offered. The placement cell of the university invites multiple companies to its campus every year  to facilitate the process of placement. The cell makes sure that the students are trained and groomed enough to appear before these companies for the interviews. Some of the companies that participated in Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) placements are Infosys, IBM, CTS, HackerRank etc. As per the data of the official brochure, a total of 60 students from the UG 4-year programme were placed in the year 2020-21 from Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University with a median salary of Rs 4,00,000.
