Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in English is a three-year full-time undergraduate degree course and it is offered by the University of Calcutta, Kolkata.

A candidate wishing to apply for B. A. Honours must choose her Honours subject from any ONE of the above and her TWO Elective subjects from Groups I to VII given below (NOT TAKING MORE THAN ONE SUBJECT FROM EACH GROUP as Honours / Elective subjects).

Please note, the Honours and Elective subjects must not be identical. The Honours and Elective subjects must not be from the same Group.

Group I: Education / Film Studies / Human Rights
Group II: History / Mathematics
Group III: Economics
Group IV: Political Science
Group V: Psychology / Journalism & Mass Communication
Group VI: English (Limited seats )
Group VII: Bengali / Hindi

Journalism may be taken with Film Studies / Human Rights

The choice of 2 Elective subjects for Psychology B.A. Honours: (1) English (2) Education / History

Eligibility Criteria

A person, who have passed Higher Secondary/Intermediate (10+2) with minimum 60% marks in examination recognized as equivalent thereto, shall be eligible for the course.

College Infrastructure

Loreto College has a good infrastructure. It provides the students with all the basic facilities like computer labs, library and canteen, sports field, which are well maintained and hygienic. In fact, Loreto College Library is one of the best libraries in Kolkata.

It's been a pleasure studying in this college.

College Infrastructure

Yes, my college has all the necessary infrastructure, facilities and equipments. The classrooms are largely spacious, have projectors, hence, facilitates studying making it more easier to understand things. The laboratories are well equipped with all the necessary manuals and equipments. We have a computer room and it is always well maintained. The living spaces are big, clean and maintained and the food provided in canteen is both hygienic and tasty.

It was really an honour to experience the life of Loreto.
