Siliguri College, Siliguri Reviews on Infrastructure, Campus, Placement, Facilities & Faculty

Location - wise, Siliguri College, popularly known as the Siliguri City college, is situated in an ideal place where students can commute easily. The college campus, with its green and spacious area, provides an amazing ambience for learning and extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. The presence of an on campus women's hostel is an additional advantage, though the number of seats is limited. The rooftop canteen, with availability of all kinds of snacks and foods is another plus point.Infrastructure wise it's old style architecture and design gives a strong feeling of high academic excellence. Nonetheless, infrastructure can be improved as per the requirements of present NEP curriculum.

The College' s reputation in terms of results and teaching learning experience can be rated as average. Efficient and experienced faculty members provide good quality education in the college. Moreover, being one of the oldest higher education institution in the area, it has many well-qualified and established alumni to its credit. The college offers Science, Arts & Humanities and Commerce (nigh shifts), which gives students a wide scope to choose any stream as per their interest.

Most graduates of Siliguri college are well placed and are doing great in their careers. In particular, students with a specialsed subject background and an Honours degree, who go on to complete post - graduation and beyond, are engaged in their own disciplinary profession. Except for a few professional courses, the rest of the non-professional courses offered hardly gurantee any placement opportunities. However, some students still make their way to non professional - sector, using their grades in some cases, and their personal skills and hard work on the other.

Well, contrary to any other degree colleges in an around, Siliguri college offers maximum courses in social sciences as well as natural sciences. For a lot of students aiming for specialised pure degree courses, the college is commensurate in terms of location, multiple facilities available, special certification provided for enrolling in NCC and NSS.

Special mention should be done for the annual college 'socials' which is one of its kind, the vibes and energetic aura that makes the days spent on those campus still memorable and lively. Yearly sports, cricket matches and cultural activities at the departmental and central level makes the campus dynamic and vibrant.

1.Compared to such a huge infrastructure, the library section is quite limited in terms of space. 2.The administration section should be more student friendly. 3.Students participation and activism should center on students welfare issues. 4.Being the premier institution of higher learning in the area, with a long history of hosting academia, having close proximity and affiliation to the North Bengal University the college had a great potential to establish a research centre in the near future.

All over my college have all the necessary infrastructure, facilities and equipments. We get regular classes, all our professors are highly qualified and take each and every classes regularly with proper guidance...all the useful and refered books are available in our college libraries, it have all the equipment which are required in the laboratories, big open group for sports and gatherings..there are both girls and boys hostel.. tasty foods are served at our college canteen... Toilets and washrooms are more over okay all are well maintained.

I'm a doing B.A. course in History under the guidance of my prestigious institution "Siliguri College" to gain a deeper knowledge about the subject History...the quality of teaching by our professors are outstanding.. i personally think yes and no both in the case of my curriculum is updated and includes all the recent developments in the field...yes I think my study makes me job ready but at the same time I think no.

No placements are given by our college.....as Siliguri College is government affiliated college.....this is the one thing that we the students don't like or else every thing is good about my college.

Fans don't work properly, there are no sufficient fans in every classroom, there are no windows hence no movement of fresh air, sometimes it feels suffocating. Washroom are in not good condition but somewhere it can be useded

Teachers are helpful, college is strict when it comes to studies. There are sufficient teachers for every subjects and also extra classes are provided to the students who needs extra classes or are facing issues.

Placement facilities are good. Every year good companies approachs for interviewing and providing jobs. Many of my friends have started their corporate life from campus placements only. Students will get their dream companies if they follow our teachers instructions.

Siliguri College has a good infrastructure with well-equipped classrooms and library facilities. The college also offers hostel facilities for both male and female students with basic amenities. However, the hostel capacity is limited, and the students are advised to apply early to secure a spot.

The courses are taught and explained very well. The teachers are ready to help us anytime during the college Hours. Most of the teachers explain the topic of their subjects in either Bengali or English.

Siliguri College is a well-respected institution of higher learning located in the city of Siliguri in West Bengal, India. The college offers a wide range of Undergraduate programs in a variety of fields, including science, the arts, and commerce, as well as postgraduate (Geography and Bengal) programs. However, it is unfortunate that the college does not have a dedicated placement cell to help students find suitable employment opportunities after graduation.

Every year around January, freshers' parties are given by the college seniors. It includes a grand party with music, DJ, etc. Besides these annual fests are also conducted, somewhat around the mid-term. It also includes many fun and sometimes food is also provided.

Yes lots of advance and technical things are there. Learn new things with a good atmosphere, lots of smart things are there . But yah lack of smart boards . But still it will be an memorable journey for your upcoming days.

No placements. Yes lots of advance and technical things are there. Learn new things with a good atmosphere, lots of smart things are there . But yah lack of smart boards . But still it will be an memorable journey for your upcoming days.

Certainly

Memorable

Good , but lack of resources for placements

The college have all necessary facilities within the campus. The classrooms are well maintained as compared to the college fees. The campus authorities also ensures the cleanliness and hygiene in the college.

The faculty members are highly qualified with PhD or MSc degrees in the subject and carries indepth knowledge. The semester exams occur twice a year and examination fee of about Rs. 1000 is to be paid before for the exam.

Internshala is associated with the college giving a lot of opportunities for all the students of the college helping them to gain practical knowledge. One can find their area of interest to work in and get experience.

Our College is very big, It has a big sports ground where most of the programs are held like Freshers, Farewell. There is also a big library, A roof top canteen. But no washroom facility is provided. There is also a big hall where indoor programs are held.

The Faculty is very much experienced and with great knowledge, but their Teaching style is Pathetic like, they come, give the lecture and go. They don't even care weather the student understand or not. You have to study on your own to get good marks. Practicals are held very less.

I have not heard anybody about getting placement from the college, Neither there is any Placement Cell in the college, But I have seen Posters of different companies in the Notice Board informing about the vacancies.

Our College is a government college and so it has got most of the facilities like Big Library, Spacious Classroom, Canteen with variety of menu, but the main thing it lacks is Washroom facility for both boys and girls.

The teachers are very much helpful and caring. They help us in every aspect, help us in doing projects, Guiding us for future. There teaching technique is awesome, every lesson is taught properly. There are more than 1 teacher for a single subject, so even one teacher gets absent, the class is taken by other teacher.

Very Few gets placement from our College, around 15 - 20% of the students gets Placement. The average salary per month given to student who got placement is around 15000/month. No internship was provided to me and i neither heard anyone doing internship from our class.

The College Building is bit old and Classrooms have not been painted for years. Science Lab is there but some of the equipment is broken. The College library has almost books of all Categories. Functions in our College are the most Eye Catching Event in the city.

The Teachers teach well and make the students understand the Subject very clearly. Some teachers mostly use Bengali which becomes a problem for some students. The teachers help us by guiding for the future.

Our college does not have any placement Cell and neither any Placement is offered by the College. Students easily get a part time job in the City in the Local mall or Showrooms. There is no internship offered by the College.
