M S Ramaiah College of Arts Science and Commerce, Bangalore Admission Process

M.S. Ramaiah College of Arts, Sciences and Commerce (MSRCASC), Bangalore, a well-known institution for undergraduate and postgraduate learning, prides itself on offering a diverse portfolio of programs to undergraduates and postgraduate programs. The admission process at MSRCASC in fact aims to extract the deserving candidates for varied courses. The college offers 18 courses across 10 programs in the fields of Sciences, Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Commerce, Computer Applications, and Management. Admissions to MSRCASC typically start before the academic year ends horizontally, that is August-September. The college has slightly varied admission procedures for different type of courses based on the academic merit, entrance exams, and government reservation policies. 

Most undergraduate programs are chosen based on the student's performance in their 10+2 examinations, while post-graduate ones may also require a special entrance test score or merit-based selection. Eligibility varies according to the course. Undergraduates need a completed 10+2 from a recognized board with the required subject combination. Most major qualification for PG is having a bachelor's degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized university.

Application Process

The application processes at MSRCASC are different from one program to another:

For Undergraduate programs (B.Sc, B.Com, BBA, BCA, BA):

  1. Visit the official MSRCASC website.
  2. Check the admissions section and download the application form for the particular program.
  3. Fill up the application form with all personal and academic data correctly.
  4. Attach all requisite documents that include 10+2 mark sheets, transfer certificate, and other relevant certificates. 
  5. Submit filled application form along with the mentioned application fee to the college admission office before the last date.

For MBA program:

  1. Appeared for MAT or Karnataka PGCET entrance exam.
  2. Cleared the entrance examination with the minimum cut-off score.
  3. Register for the state-level counseling process conducted by the appropriate body approved by the Government of Karnataka.
  4. Attending the counseling process where allotment of seats is finally done according to the merit rank and reservation rules.
  5. Reporting to the college for document verification and other admission formalities, if allotted a seat at MSRCASC. 

Other Postgraduate Programmes (M.Sc, M.Com):

  1. Go to the MSRCASC website and download the application for the PG program of preference.
  2. Fill in the required details and attach copies of the necessary documents such as bachelor's degree mark sheets and other relevant certificates.
  3. Submit the completed application form alongside the application fee to the college admission office.
  4. Depending on the requirement set for the program shortlisted aspirers may also require an entrance test or an interview.

General Documents Required for Admission:

  • Completed application form 
  • Passport size photographs 
  • 10th and 12th mark sheets (for UG programs) 
  • Bachelor's degree mark sheets (for PG programs) 
  • Transfer Certificate 
  • Migration Certificate (if applicable) 
  • Caste Certificate (if applying under reserved category) 
  • Entrance exam score card (for MBA and other applicable programs).

Degree wise Admission Process:

The B.Sc Programs offered by MSRCASC, Bangalore, are Physical Science and Life Science. Among the B.Sc Life Science program, it has an approved intake of 220 seats. Admission will be on the basis of the percentage of the marks obtained by the applicants in the 10+2 relevant subjects.

B.Com and B.Com Honours: As far as both programs are concerned, each has an approved intake of 200 seats. The votes are based usually on the 10+2 marks obtained in the relevant subjects concerning the commerce score and mathematics score.

BBA Honours: This program has an approved intake of 180 seats. Admission is based on an applicant's 10+2 marks and may have a merit-based selection method.

BCA Honours: The admission to the BCA Honours program will be based on the 10+2 marks where preference will be provided to those students who have taken a mathematics or computer science course.

BA Programs: MSRCASC presents BA programs in Journalism, Journalism with Political Science, and Psychology. The BA Journalism & Political Science program has an approved intake of 80 seats. Admission is based on 10+2 marks in relevant subjects.

M.Sc Programs: The college offers M.Sc. courses in Microbiology (35 seats), Biochemistry (15 seats), Biotechnology (45 seats), and Organic Chemistry (20 seats). The candidate's bachelor's degree marks in the relevant subject normally determine admission to this graduate program.

MBA: The MBA program has a total sanctioned intake of 60 seats. The entry is through entrance examination- MAT (Management Aptitude Test) or Karnataka PGCET (Post Graduate Common Entrance Test) followed by state-level counseling process as per the merit order and reservation rules set by the Government of Karnataka.

M.Com: The M.Com program has an approved intake of 40 seats. Admission based on the student's bachelor's degree marks in Commerce or related fields.
