Anand Agricultural University (AAU) was established by the Government of Gujarat in 2004. The University was earlier known as Gujarat Agricultural University (GAU). AAU was set up to provide support to the farming community in three areas namely education, research and extension activities in agriculture, horticulture engineering, product processing and home science. The University was ranked 69th position in the category of University by NIRF. At present, there are seven colleges affiliated to the University, seventeen research centres and six extension education institutes which are working in nine districts of Gujarat namely Ahmedabad, Anand, Dahod, Kheda, Panchmahal, Vadodara, Mahisagar, Botad and Chhotaudepur. AAU works towards the empowerment of the farmers and its overall mission is to promote sustainable growth and economic independence in rural society. AAU is a residential university and follows the semester system. AAU imparts education in agriculture and allied sciences at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and offers Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate degrees in various colleges of agriculture, dairy, veterinary, engineering, and information technology, food processing technology & bio-energy, international agribusiness management, and horticulture. The University also offers a diploma in agriculture, horticulture, food science & home economics and agricultural engineering.
