About GUJCET 2019

GUJCET 2019 entrance exam will be conducted in offline mode by Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB) tentatively in the 4th week of April. The application form will open around the 4th week of March and has to be filled in online mode. A state-level exam, GUJCET will be held for admission to Bachelor of Engineering and Technology/Pharmacy courses in government, grant-in-aid and self financed engineering institutions in the state. The question paper of GUJCET 2019 will be of three hours duration and comprise multiple choice questions. GSEB authorities will declare the result of the exam around the 2nd week of May. 

Please note that the role of GSEB ends with declaration of result. The remaining part of the admission process, including counselling and seat allotment, will instead be conducted by Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC). Counselling will be based on the merit list that will be drawn up by giving 40% weightage to percentile obtained by the candidate in GUJCET 2019 and 60% weightage to percentile obtained in board exams.

GUJCET 2019 Eligibility Criteria

GUJCET B.Tech

The eligibility criteria of GUJCET 2019 lists the terms and conditions that the candidate needs to meet in order to be considered for admission. In case a candidate doesn’t meet the eligibility criteria of GUJCET 2018, but qualifies in the entrance exam, the candidate will still be disqualified from the admission process. So, it  is mandatory to meet the eligibility criteria before filling the application form. 

  • Nationality – Indian nationals are eligible to appear in the exam. 
  • State Eligibility – The candidate needs to be a bona-fide resident of Gujarat. In such cases where the candidate is a bona-fide resident but is residing in another, the candidate is eligible to appear in the admission process.
  • Academic Qualification – The candidates must have passed 10+2 (or equivalent) exam from Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, Gandhinagar/CBSE Delhi/CISCE New Delhi/NIOS/International School Board. Candidates who are appearing in their final exam in 2019 are also eligible. 
  • Qualifying Marks – Minimum required aggregate score in 45% marks ( reserved category candidates need 40% marks).

GUJCET B.Pharm

The eligibility criteria of GUJCET 2019 for B.Pharm candidates can have subtle differences from those mandated for Bachelor and Engineering and Technology courses. So, candidates appearing for B.Pharm must take note of this fact. 

  • Nationality – Indian citizens are eligible. 
  • State Eligibility – The candidate must be a resident of Gujarat. If the candidate is a bona-fide resident but is residing in another, in such cases also the candidate is eligible to appear in the exam.
  • Academic Qualification – The candidates must have passed 10+2 (or equivalent) exam from Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, Gandhinagar/CBSE Delhi/CISCE New Delhi/NIOS/International School Board. Candidates who are appearing in their final exam in 2019 are also eligible. The candidate must have studied Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with any one of Maths or Biology.
  • Qualifying Marks – Minimum required aggregate score in 45% marks ( reserved category candidates need 40% marks).

Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB) will release the application form of GUJCET 2019 in online mode around the third week of March. Before filling the GUJCET 2019 application form, candidates need to ensure they meet the prescribed eligibility criteria. Also, only genuine and verifiable information must be used, as each details entered by the candidate will be checked during the document verification process. In case any discrepancy is found, the candidate may be remove from the admission process altogether.

An interesting feature about the GUJCET application process is that before filling the form, candidates need to first visit designated help centres to pay the application fees, upon which user id of the candidate will be generated. The step-wise process to fill the application form of GUJCET 2019 is given below:

Steps to fill GUJCET Application Form 2019

  • Payment of fee at help center and generation of Unique ID: Before candidates can register online, they have to visit a designated help center to pay the application fee of Rs 300. The payment can be made using Demand Draft, drawn in favor of “Secretary, Gujarat Common Entrance Test Cell, Gandhinagar”. Upon payment of the fee, a unique User ID will be given to the candidate which has to be used for registering online. 
  • Registration: Log-in to the registration portal using the allotted User ID.
  • Filling of Application Form: In this step, the candidate has to enter personal, academic and contact details. 
  • Uploading of documents: Scanned photograph and signature has to be uploaded in prescribed format.
  • Submission of Filled Application Form: After checking that all the details are correctly filled and the form is complete in all respects, submit it. The candidate needs to carefully note down the application number that will be generate after submission for application form.

These days no preparation is complete without solving a fair amount of GUJCET 2019 sample papers. It is because by solving sample papers of GUJCET, the candidate will be able to understand concepts better, going beyond simple rote learning. Exam authorities will release the GUJCET admit card 2019 tentatively in the 3rd week of April - 2019. The admit card of GUJCET 2019 will be available online through applicant accounts. The GUJCET 2019 admit card is an important document without which the candidate will not be allowed inside the exam hall; in fact the candidate must keep it safe and undamaged until the admission process is over.

Documents Required at Exam

  • Admit Card

The result of GUJCET result 2019 will be declared in online mode tentatively in the 2nd week of May. The result of GUJCET 2019 is a important component based on which the merit list will be prepared; the other component being 10+2 scores. The GUJCET 2019 result will include details like the marks and percentile scored by the candidate in the entrance exam. 

How to check Result of GUJCET 2019 

  • Go to the result portal
  • Log-in using six-digit seat number
  • The result will be displayed on the screen

The merit list of GUJCET 2019 will be prepared by Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC) for shortlisting candidates for the counselling process. The merit list, which will be released around the 3rd week of June, will be prepared by giving 60% weightage to 10+2th (or equivalent) percentile and 40% weightage to GUJCET percentile. Candidates who are ranked high in GUJCET merit list 2019 will be called first for counselling, and thus stand a better chance of getting a preferred seat.

After conclusion of the exam, authorities will first release a provisional answer key of GUJCET 2019 that will contain correct answers to questions asked in the exam. The candidate by comparing the official answers will thus able to calculate the total number of questions correctly attempted and consequently the probable score – for the purpose, the marking scheme prescribed by GSEB should be followed. The probable score could be used by the candidate to access his/her chances of admission without having to wait for results. There will also be a provision to challenge the provisional answer keys. The final answer key will be published after addressing all such complaints.

The participating institutes will determine institute-wise cutoffs of GUJCET 2019 for admission to various B.Tech/B.E courses offered by them. The GUJCET 2019 cutoff will also be category- and branch-specific, is generally the minimum marks below which admission is not offered. So, candidates need to score equal to or higher than the GUJCET cutoff 2019 for the specific institute and branch. Considering the cutoffs are prepared based on parameters like number of sanctioned seats, applications received for admission, and reputation of the institute, they tend to vary from one another.

Mode of Counselling: Offline

ACPC will start counselling and seat allotment of GUJCET 2019 around the last week of April. To participate in the GUJCET 2019 counselling process, the candidate needs to first go to a designated branch of Kotak Mahindra Bank and purchase the information booklet and 14 digit PIN number on payment of Rs. 350. Using the 14-digit number, the candidate will be able to register for counselling, which will include steps like choice filling and locking. After submission of the counselling form, the candidate has to go the counselling venue in person along with all relevant documents for document verification. Seats will be allotted to candidates based on their merit rank and choices filled.

GUJCET 2019 Seat Allotment

The allotment of seats in done in online mode. ACPC will release the result of seat allotment at the end of every round based on choices entered by the candidate, availability of seats and his/her merit rank. The candidate who has been allotted a seat will have the option to freeze (accept) the seat or opt for up-gradation. To ensure that the seat allotment process goes along in a smooth manner, the admission authorities will hold a mock allotment round before actual allotment. The mock allotment result can be used by the candidate to fine tune their choices. Generally it is recommended that the candidate enters as many choices as possible to have a better chance of admission.

  • Photograph of candidate for other State / other than Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary School Examination Board
  • Certificate of Ex-Serviceman, duly issued by the Director, Sainik Welfare Board, Gujarat State or by the District Sainik Welfare Officer
  • A copy of certificate of In-Serviceman duly issued by the Commanding Officer of the respective unit in which he is serving
  • Valid Income certificate
