Provided me a basic standard undergraduate experience.

    Verified Review
    College Infrastructure

The main campus building serves its purpose adequately for me and my needs. I found the Chemistry laboratories to be sufficiently equipped for the basic Honours curriculum. However, I often felt the classroom technology was outdated and inefficient for me. I believe better maintenance of the overall campus would greatly benefit the students. I would describe the infrastructure as perfectly serviceable but uninspiring.

    Academics

The professors in the Chemistry department were genuinely passionate about their specific subjects. I received consistent guidance on difficult theoretical and numerical problems from them. I found the curriculum to be quite robust, adequately preparing me for a Master's degree. They instilled in me a strong sense of scientific inquiry and discipline. I consider the quality of the teaching I received to be a true asset.

    Placements

Placement drives for core science graduates were virtually nonexistent for me during my time there. I clearly understood that the college's placement focus was mostly on the Commerce or general Arts streams. I had to personally rely on preparing for higher studies entrance examinations. I wish there had been more exposure to industrial career paths for me. I had zero campus placement expectation from this degree.

    Value for Money

I consider the total cost of my three-year degree to be exceptionally low and budget-friendly. I definitely received more teaching quality than I paid for, which is a big win for me. The academic standards are high, especially given the minimal fees I deposited. I firmly believe this college offers one of the most accessible honours degrees. I feel I made a very smart and practical financial decision.

    Campus Life

I found the social environment to be generally friendly and quite active during the major fests. I managed to connect easily with my fellow students in the Chemistry department. I wish the campus had more organized extra-curricular activities beyond just the annual functions for me to participate in. Sometimes I felt the atmosphere was a little too focused solely on academics. It was a pleasant but mostly typical experience for me.

A foundational institution but needs serious improvements.

    College Infrastructure

The facilities were quite standard for me during my tenure there. I felt that the Computer Science laboratories needed a serious technology upgrade. I spent much of my practical time working with rather older machines. The classroom seating arrangements were adequate and I did appreciate the access I had to the college library. Overall, the infrastructure was acceptable but it was not anything that truly amazed me.

    Academics

The Computer Science faculty were very dedicated and committed to teaching me the core concepts of the curriculum. I feel I received a very strong and reliable theoretical foundation because of their consistent guidance. I was always encouraged by them to ask questions and deepen my technical understanding of subjects. They truly made some of the complex topics approachable and manageable for me. I believe the rigorous curriculum prepared me well for my future.

    Placements

I must admit that the overall placement scenario was quite disappointing and frustrating for me. There were unfortunately limited opportunities directly relevant to a core Computer Science Honours graduate. Most of the few companies visiting were there for mass recruitment roles only. I sincerely wish the college had focused much more on attracting core technology firms. I had to mostly rely on my own personal efforts for job hunting.

    Value for Money

For me, the fees I paid felt generally justified by the education I was receiving. I do feel that the curriculum delivery was quite strong considering the modest expense. However, I often felt that the older equipment and general lack of infrastructure upkeep slightly lowered the overall value. The affordable fee structure made getting an honours degree accessible to me. I would say it was a reasonable investment, but nothing more than that.

    Campus Life

My campus experience was decent and friendly enough, but it was nothing too exciting or overwhelming for me. I was able to connect with my batchmates and establish a few good study groups. I wish there were more diverse activities and dedicated student clubs for me to join. Sometimes the campus felt a little too crowded and unorganized. It was an average atmosphere for me, providing standard social interaction.

Strong and affordable teaching but minimal facilities.

    Verified Review
    College Infrastructure

The main academic buildings and facilities felt distinctly behind the times during my enrolment period. Our specific Physics department was situated in a functional but decidedly secondary block that was also crying out for immediate modernization and proper care. The crucial laboratory equipment necessary for advanced Honours practical experiments was regrettably often obsolete, sometimes even non-functional when needed by the students. Classroom space for large lecture batches often felt incredibly cramped and uncomfortable, especially during peak academic sessions throughout the year. The library itself possessed an adequate collection of books, but the attached reading room felt consistently overcrowded and poorly ventilated. Overall, the physical campus environment was tired, aged, and certainly required a significant and urgent investment.

    Academics

I must admit, the absolute standout feature of the entire experience was without doubt the genuinely high standard of teaching within the entire Physics Department. The core faculty professors were intensely dedicated, deeply knowledgeable, and possessed a tangible passion for teaching the subject matter with great enthusiasm. They placed a consistent and necessary emphasis on cultivating strong conceptual clarity and developing rigorous, disciplined problem-solving abilities in all the students. This solid, unwavering approach perfectly prepared us for tackling the difficult University of Calcutta examinations with confidence and competence. While the system for internal assessment and marking sometimes felt slightly opaque, the comprehensive syllabus coverage was always delivered effectively and on time.

    Placements

If I must be completely honest about the situation regarding placement during my tenure, especially for the pure Science stream, there was essentially no dedicated career cell or proactive employment guidance. The explicit focus of the college administration was almost exclusively directed towards preparing graduates for pursuing higher academic degrees, such as Master of Science programs or eventual research, post-graduation. No significant corporate entities or recruiting firms actively visited the campus specifically targeting Science Honours graduates while I was studying there before 2018.

    Value for Money

The educational value offered was outstanding. The minimal financial outlay required for the three-year course was unequivocally justified by the superior, dedicated teaching faculty alone. Acquiring a recognized University of Calcutta degree combined with strong conceptual instruction for such an affordable price point represents an exceptional educational bargain. The clear and accepted drawbacks in infrastructure and non-existent placement support were significantly outweighed by the negligible student fees and the high academic quality delivered.

    Campus Life

The overall campus atmosphere was certainly welcoming, generally friendly, and possessed the typical, familiar characteristics of an active undergraduate college in Kolkata at the time. The student body was consistently enthusiastic in organizing several cultural activities, college week celebrations, and important annual functions, fostering a sense of community pride. The small but central college ground served perfectly as the main social hub for students to congregate and relax during their lecture breaks and free periods. While the canteen facilities were very basic and utilitarian, they reliably provided affordable and decent meals throughout the academic day for everyone. However, the college did lack the modern, sprawling recreational infrastructure and numerous specialized student societies found in much larger university campuses.

I will not recommend this college to anyone.

    College Infrastructure

The chemistry department's lab was really good although it was old but the equipments were in good condition. Other than that the classrooms were spacious but corridor, bathrooms were in bad condition and needed real improvement.

    Academics

Teachers' faculty was good and helpful, but the physical chemistry department was not that much helpful. Few teachers provided valuable notes and insights. During the final year research I did not get much help. Overall it has a mixed quality of faculty.

    Placements

No placement opportunities were available. Outside campus placements were the only solution. Need serious improvements in placement opportunities and further help in career counselling and career advancement.

    Value for Money

Being a government college the value for money was average. Now it has become a private institution so I am not sure of the current condition. The lab was pretty good and so were the teachers in our time but the infrastructure and the placement made it an average college.

    Campus Life

No such campus life was there, although cultural fests and events did happen. Sports was held every year. People are actually friendly and helpful within the college. But those events and sports were below standards.

    Not recommended for serious students

    College Infrastructure

Our college has no hostel and we have to pay for the WIFI connection which has a very slow speed. The labs offer new instrument for the technical stream. The library is pretty good with a lots of good books according to you genre.

    Academics

Our college has the most experienced faculty members from all over the country. It organises various inter college faculty exchange programs for teachers. They give proper practical and theoretical classes to the students and provides basic tools like study materials.

    Placements

About 70 percent were placed from this college. The highest salary offered was 90,000 and lowest was 25,000 rupees. Recruiters were Muthoot finance, Lambert, ICICI BANK,etc.passing students can apply in food industry, hospitality management and catering.

    Value for Money

The course cost me eight thousand five hundred rupees per annum and it was worth it because the teachers are very supportive and friendly. They guide us very well.

    Campus Life

The college is at a very good location. It has AC classrooms and well maintained laboratories. The college conducts many sports and has a basketball, tennis court, etc. It contributes money to celebrate Durga Puja in the month of October.
