It is in my opinion undoubtedly one of the best institutions in the State if one looks forward to study in the Commerce field. With an orderly and systematic course it makes our study very interesting and productive. Also there to help us with our course is the superb faculty that the college provides us with. 'Discipline' is one of the essentials in this college. College life is hectic but it is fun, strenuous but memorable and i find all that a student looks for, in my college. It really feels great and proud to be a part of this college.

I really love the infrastructure of my college. Its an old building with the essence of history and culture. All the major courses are provided to us. And are taught in the most advanced ways. There are innumerable societies and clubs that are active all through the years. Trying hard to preserve the rich history of this institution, there have been many additions to facilities to incorporate the sense of advancement as well. It thrives too hard to protect the flourishing brand value. I am a mass communication student in the institution and have been provided with the best of faculty and the studio and workshops that we work in are helpful for the future. Plus, the professors mostly support our insight and also provide us with help. It has been a fun 2 years in the college.

I've already completed my 1st year and I'm deeply attached to this college. I've heard from my friends from other colleges and I know that St. Xavier's College is the best indeed. Great faculty, friendly seniors, good infrastructure, good hostel life. What more would one need? I'm blessed to be a part of this institution and would recommend students this college who are willing to take honours after 10+2

St. Xavier's college by bagging the highest CGPA of 3.77 and getting the A++grade by NAAC has proved that the college has a very good atmosphere for studies as well as co-curricular activities. Different societies - debating, dance, commerce, management, entrepreneurship-help a lot in improving the personality of a student. You get to meet the students of different states as well as countries which not only provides better scope of interaction but also broadens your outlook. But this college knows how to discipline you in all the possible ways. You will actually feel like you are in a school as the college is really strict regarding attendance. But the teachers, at least of my department, are really good and they know exactly how to make things as simple as possible for the students to understand. Top companies like Deloitte, PWC, JP Morgan, E&Y, etc. have come for recruitment. The college campus is pretty small as it is shared by the St. Xavier's collegiate school. But it is compensated by its perfect location i. e. Park Street which is the heart of kolkata. Xavotsav - college fest is supposed to be the best time of the year. Lastly the hostel of the college is a very neat and tidy place to live in with all the facilities like hot water, gym, TV room, games room. But it has limited seats and not all who apply get accommodation. Strict discipline is maintained inside the hostel. There is no scope of having any fun except during Cofradia which is the hostel fest. The environment that it provides for studying is the most peaceful one and I can assure you that you won't get an environment better than this in any pg.

It is a great company college, with faculty that cares for you. Although the campus is relatively small and isn't in rich in recreational facilities, it's a place you would want to be in to proceed towards a better future. The hostels aren't up to the mark though, but that's a tiny blemish on a progressive institute.

The College knows we have to survive the real world and so it sugarcoats nothing. College life is hard. There is no rose tinted vision of campus, friends or unbreakable bonds. All for none, every individual has to think and act in their own interests. It is a good experience where you come out ready to face anything.

My college is one of the top colleges in Kolkata. It comprises of a huge campus and proper facilities are there to cater to everyone's need. The library has enough books for the students . The canteen food is pretty average and needs to improve. Attendance is a big issue in our college and people with lower than 60% attendance are not allowed to sit for exams or made to do library hours. The schedule is pretty hectic but proper marks are given to those who prepare well.

I am an alumini of this college which is considered one of the best colleges of our country. It's teaching faculty was exceptionally well and was very much students oriented. The campus was beautiful with a lot of greenery representing the heart of Kolkata. The placements were very good and a lot of top companies used to visit our campus and offered decent pay scales. Alltogether it is a wonderful college to graduate from and you need to work really hard for securing a seat there.

The best college in Kolkata

Basically, this college has a nice atmosphere of toppers and over achievers. You don't get to talk to any person who takes life easy. And you are looked down at if you are of the present generation 'chilled dude' category. It is the ambiance that gives you a zeal to be someone, to be one of your kind.Coming to the infrastructure, Xavier's lacks it. The building is an outdated British structure. The college campus is pretty small and is shared with St. Xavier's Collegiate School. All in all, there is no campus charm of cool cafes or large playgrounds. With respect to the faculty, Xavier's has a few best and maximum average teachers. Most teachers, at least in my Department, resort to spoon-feeding to better the performance of their students which generally, lowers the motivation of the students to study for their exams. But the brilliant students do not generally give in to such easy methods for easy marks.Xavier's offers extravagant opportunities when it comes to extra curriculars. There are societies and cells for all - be it Debating, Dance, Commerce, Management or Entrepreneurship. This college is better known as a school.I can assure you of the fact that this college will try to discipline you in ways in which even your Alma mater wouldn't have tried to. In the B.Com. department(s), the students are made to sit Roll No. wise in the classrooms. Their attendance is taken on the basis of visible heads on the respective seats. Marks allotment for class attendance is another strict disciplinary measure because the top notch students here compete for the 5% marks too.Overall, this college in the heart of Kolkata i.e. Park Street, shall be a new journey. One may enjoy it and may also groan about the lack of college life here. But the tag of the college, of being a Xaverian, satisfies every complain.

The infrastructure of the college is very developed. The campus surroundings are quiet and healthy which is helpful for studies. There are some departments under development to accommodate a large number of students. The classrooms are well constructed, air conditioned and have space for about 150 students. It has a well-organized library with easy book search and reading facility. The college has an excellent hostel and sports facility. Placements are sure for students. Faculty members are just superb.

Getting into St.Xavier's college,Kolkata is like getting into school after you have completed your school where discipline is a must with minimum 75% attendance and classes are regular and interactive unlike other colleges in India. The Administration provides their students with every facility for their overall development which includes Organising Seminars both by the students and celebrities ( for e.g; Arun Jaitley delivered his speech at College's auditorium and was an interactive session which was held this January ).Also providing fields for entertainment like hosting many Bollywood Actors and Yearly fest Xavotsav which is a awaited by students all over Kolkata. These events are mainly organised by the students of the college and there are different societies (formed by the students themselves for every department) which manage such events . Overall the college is free from any bureaucracy and red tapism and holds an Autonomous Status which adds much to the credibility of this great college. There are many more things which make this college GREAT.

As a student of St.Xavier's College,Kolkata it fills me with immense pride to be part of such a reputed institution. The college provides a great deal of exposure in terms of competition, placements, industry visits etc. But first and foremost a student has to be aware and active from the very beginning. The faculty is much hyped.Baring few teachers B.Com evening faculty is average. But the teachers are very supportive. The staff and administration are not very flexible and understanding. The college is very strict regarding discipline and it holds a tight hold over the student much to be applauded.A student who passes out from this college definitely comes out with a shining and confident personality.

A Journey Down The Memory Lane

The audacity here is not to learn but to undergo, not to suppress but to express, more to reason and more to celebrate. Here, the personality speaks not the student and the soul communicates not the person. St. Xavier’s College weaves a thread of qualities and punctuates one towards perfection. The rudiments of success get inherited. A senior student of St. Xavier’s rightly says it to me, “You’re the words you speak, the wisdom you gain, the knowledge you impart, you’re the lives you touch, the people you influence, you’re the world you’ve made better, you’re a Xaverian.” The day I entered the vibrant campus of this college as its student, I felt a bit uncanny. Exalting minds encircled me in the class. A casket full of intelligence and knowledge seemed to have seated here. I realized that making a mark amidst such students stands out to be a laborious task. New friends were made and thoughts were shared. The worm of curiosity and enthusiasm led to exploration of the college with friends from college to the canteen, and finally the ‘Green Benches’- a place where a lot happens!!

Tough but a learning experience

It is indeed tough to travel 15 km and reach college at 6 am every day... This is what has made me punctual and helped me manage time... Attendance here is mandatory and a minimum of 80% is required in each subject to sit for semester examinations! The faculty has always been helpful and knowledgeable. They have always been readily entertaining doubts. The college has the worst rule of not allowing any grace time for the 1st period which means irrespective of how far you come from if you are late you will not be allowed to attend the 1st period. This college has given me some very good friends for which I am very thankful to the institution . It has helped me develop my public speaking skills by conducting Saturday seminars whereby you get exposure to speak in front of a crowd of 100 odd students and you are marked on your presentation... Overall it been a cherishing experience and I am expecting it to be the same for years to come

St. Xaviers Kolkata A place to be

St. Xavier's College, a college that has a rich legacy(154). The college is looked as a mark of excellence by parents, teachers, and students especially in the parts of North India. (Not at all kidding, being from Bihar I faced it). Apart from the magnificent main building, the college is accompanied Fr. Depalchin Auditorium and Jubilee Building along with others, giving a firm infrastructure to the college. Coming to placements, Companies like Google, Microsoft, IBM are grace the presence. Thus making a very impressive campus recruitment record after graduation. Faculty! a splendid, supportive and experienced bunch of people whom students can rely on. A thing must be said about college life and co-curricular activities in and around the campus that keeps the college active, happening filled with people. Guys with DSLR, Guitars etc and Beautiful ladies adorning the campus is a common sight. The ground is always buzzing with people playing sorts of games and carrying on the activities. And Green Benches, a place where talent is born and manifested. St. Xavier's College is a place to be.

Be a part of the legacy

St.Xaviers isn't a college it's an Institution. It's a way of life, with own culture and heritage proudly passed down from generation to generation. It isn't just a saying when you hear "Once a Xavierian always a Xaverian". It's true, and every student of the college believes so. Yes, the college has its rules, and yes, everyone does abide by them. Mind you, the college isn't ruthlessly strict, it's just sensibly disciplined. At the end of the day, some amount of discipline is required for positive outcomes. So,naturally, time plays an important factor in the college, just like the attendance and the dress code. Apart from the rules and regulations, the college has a brilliant up to date faculty who help in every way possible. There exists a placement cell which helps you get a better angle at the placement opportunities in the near future. Moreover, there exists a variety of societies to cater to the various interests of the students. The credit system in the college makes each student participate in the college activities- ensuring that they have equal work and participation in different activities. The canteen is an "add" spot for everyone serving both veg and non vegetarian food at subsidised rates. The green benches are also one more spot where the students pass their time. Xavotsav is the event almost all students look forward to throughout the year! The college also offers MANY opportunities to attend inner-city college fests,to those who can balance both, activities and their studies. To feel Xavier's culture, you need to be a part of the institution. An institution proud of the students that it produces. :) come is a part of Xavier's, come be a part of a Legacy.

Being a first-year student and CA pursuant myself, I knew that St. Xavier's, Kolkata was the best option for me. College so far has been more than just another enriching experience for me, personally. I've seen people develop in a short span of time due to the constant guidance of all seniors. The rapport which they share with us helps us understand the do's and don't 's of college better. Discipline is of utmost importance here, at St. Xavier's. Attendance and class timings are strictly followed no matter what. With a huge lush green multipurpose field and a covered Basketball Court, St. Xavier's ensures that it's athletes are nurtured well. The professors are interested in imparting knowledge and successfully do so with their extensive research in their subjects and areas of expertise. Being a volunteer for the Placement Cell myself, I have seen the devotion with which Campus Drives take place to ensure each student gets what he deserves. With a huge array of events and societies to choose from, St. Xavier's, Kolkata is undoubtedly one of the best institutions in the country.

St. Xavier's College, Kolkata is definitely the best college in Kolkata in terms if the brand. And this brand image of theirs is very useful while introducing yourself as a student from there. Though the college lacks some of the modern amenities like the use if elevator and wifi to the students, it does make it up in its rich heritage. The rich quality faculty and the numerous societies and cells provide a holistic development to each student. The college enjoys the patronage of the state government and hence provides students with subsidies. A new college campus is coming up which offers post graduation courses as well.

The faculty at the college is excellent and experienced in their respective fields. The campus is huge, with very good infrastructural facilities. The best part is that the college is lively at any given time of the year cause there are approximately 17 societies that organise different event throughout the year. The hostel is near the campus and is newly built. There are many eateries around the campus as the campus is located in the heart of the city. The ROI of the college is very good as the placement team is excellent. The crowd at the college is diverse with a good gender ratio. The library at the college is hugely consisting of 2 floors with a variety of books.

This is one place where I got to learn so many things and this is the place where you can actually enjoy your college life. Very supporting and friendly faculty and the exams in almost every 3 months help you to be in touch with your studies throughout the program of 3 years. Attendance is really a headache as 75 percent is the minimum requirement and students get marks for the attendance (back to school). But the business fests and other fests keep you attracted towards the college and makes it easy to survive the attendance part. It's an amazing place to be and study and make rally good friends.

When your dream college turns into a nightmare

My experience at Xavier's was a mixed bag really. On the one hand, I enjoyed the tag of being a Xaverian and on the other hand realised that the tag is the only thing you get out of this college. Unnecessary discipline, awkward timings, poor faculty and modest placements will quickly deflate the hyped reputation this college enjoys. It isn't all bad, though. The infrastructure is best among all colleges in the city, the location is absolutely perfect and the cultural events are happening and effervescent. But at the end of the day, the quality of education is very poor. You'll definitely get a valuable degree but will you learn anything valuable? Difficult to say.
