    About MIT Chennai

    Madras Institute of Technology was established in 1949 by Shri. C. Rajam. The college was merged with Anna University in 1978. MIT Chennai is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). Madras Institute of Technology also has NIRF ranking. The college is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is affiliated to Anna University. The mission of the college is to promote quality education with the vision of nurturing professionals for the welfare of society.

    • Athenaeum- It is owned by the student representatives and promotes co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. It helps to inculcate leadership qualities, management and entrepreneurial skills. 

    • Personality Development Association (PDA)- The association helps the students develop individual skills and gives them exposure of global competitive environment.

    • Rotoract Club- The club works for the welfare of the society and organises various activities like donating old books and clothes to the orphans, seminars on solid waste management, tobacco and smoking hazards for the college students, ROTOFEST for differently-abled children, blood donation camp, trekking, etc.

    • Youth Red Cross (YRC)- It organises blood donation camps, plant trees and conducts youthfest for visually challenged people.

    Madras Institute of Technology Facilities

    Many facilities are provided by the college for the overall development of the students. MIT Chennai facilities include a library, auditorium, cafeteria, classrooms, medical clinic, boys hostel, girls hostel, sports, IT infrastructure, laboratories, cooperative stores, etc. Hostel facilities are available for both boys and girls students. The hostels provide comfortable accommodation to outstation students. The hostels are equipped with all basic amenities and provide free wi-fi facility. The hostels also provide a separate mess.

    There are numerous resources in the college library for the students and faculty members. These resources are textbooks, reference books, national and international journals, periodicals, newspapers, magazines, etc. The library also has an e-section, where e-books, online databases, etc are available. IEEE, Scopus, SAE international journals, science direct, etc are other online resources available in the library. The library also has librarians, who carry out the day-to-day work of the library with the help of OPAC and RFID integrated software.

    Madras Institute of Technology facilities include a sports complex, which provides both indoor and outdoor games. Every department of the college has its own laboratories, which facilitate practical knowledge among the students.     MIT have wifi trees and good lab facilities. Big library also available we can take books with our id card. Food quality is ok but not much greater.campus cleaning also that's like. Sports facilities is good .
