Madras Institute of Technology, fondly called by its students as MIT, was a strange place for me when I first entered its gates. But soon , MIT embraces you with ts age old senior-junior relationship. In no other college will you see students calling their preceding year students as 'Seniors' and succeeding year students as 'Juniors'. Once you become acquainted with the seniors they are ready to help us in every walk of life. They are our friends, our mentors, and our teachers. I personally came to know everything about doing M.S through one of my seniors. The Series culture (students of different batches with same register number form a series) of MIT is the oldest culture followed here. We have good facilities in our college like library, labs, classrooms and lecture halls, though cleanliness is an issue. Like any place, we have a mixture of professors. While some of the Professors teach the course in a logical and practical manner, others stick to books. There are no rules to prevent opposite gender students mingling with each other. We have lots of clubs in our college like Personality Development Associate(PDA), Rotaract club, NSS, YRC, NSO, Quiz club of MIT, CSMIT(Computer Society of MIT), etc, which conducts lots of activities after class hours. It helps the student improve their managerial and communication skills. Students have lots of opportunities to improve themselves through symposiums, workshops, or by doing projects and research under professors. There are lots of opportunities for students to participate in extracurricular activities also. Our college dance team, 'My-Team Black Crew(MYTBC)', has participated in various inter-college cultural and won prizes in VIT, WCC, SSN and participated in other colleges like IIT etc. Others, like the Variety team of MIT and Music team of MIT, participates in Fests both inside and outside our colleges and wins prizes. One thing I should mention here is, in all our extracurricular activities , seniors our are main pillars. In short, you can learn anything you want in MIT, if you want to learn. You come to MIT, you become an MITian. You will be helped by anyone and everyone. You will experience a great college life .

Campus is not very huge but sufficient it is covered with trees completely, and has some not usually found departments such as aeronautical, automobile and instrumentation engineering. There are many academic and non academic clubs to keep you involved all through the year. Seniors here would go out of their way to ensure you are able to manage your academics and would help you even after they have passed out of the college.
