Have a question related to Electrical Engineering ?

Hello Aspirant,

Choosing Electrical Engineering (EE) rather than Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at PMEC is about your interests and eventual career goals. If you are famous for your core engineering studies, power systems, and electronics, and see yourself working in the PSU government sector (GATE-based starters), EE is a safe option for you. On the other hand, if you are leaning towards CSE, overall, CSE placements have better packages and opportunities in the anticipated private sector, IT, or software after graduation.

Overall, at PMEC, CSE placements appear to have many more opportunities, than EE placements. There are many valuable opportunities in EE. However, if you are more comfortable with hardware, control systems, or simply want to explore your potential for IES/GATE, I personally would endorse exploring options in EE.

Hey student! So when you're choosing between Electrical Engineering (EE) and Computer Science Engineering (CSE) at PMEC (Parala Maharaja Engineering College), it really depends on what you're looking for long term.

CSE generally has better placement opportunities across most colleges, including PMEC, because the demand for software jobs is higher and growing fast. If you're into programming, tech, and are okay with a desk job or coding-based work, CSE is a good pick. You'll probably have access to more internship opportunities and even off-campus placements.

On the other hand, EE at PMEC is also a solid department, but the job opportunities right after graduation might not be as many compared to CSE. Core electrical jobs often require further study or preparing for competitive exams like GATE. However, if you’re interested in hardware, energy, electronics, or public sector jobs, EE could be a strong choice.

So, if placements and immediate job opportunities are your priority, CSE is usually the safer option. But if you're more passionate about electrical concepts and open to future exams or higher studies, EE can be worth it too.

Both are excellent choices, but if you are inclined to words software or tech industry , NIT Trichy ECE has a slight edge. If you are more interested in core engineering research or IIT prestige, then IITRopar EE is the best.

Hello Aspirant,

With a 489 rank in CG PET 2025 under the General category you have a very good chance of getting CSE at BIT Durg. Historically CSE has closed at about 700-800 under General category, so you will be well within the typical cutoff range.
Electrical Engineering at BIT Durg is also a good branch. The department has good faculty and labs. While placements in core EE are not as many compared to CSE, many EE students got good placement in IT/software roles on campus. If you have an interest in electronics, power systems or want to prepare for competitive exams like GATE or PSU jobs then EE is a good option.

Hello,

The highest merit for JEE Electrical Engineering is typically found at the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), with IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi often having the most competitive cutoff ranks.

For example, IIT Bombay's JEE Advanced cutoff for Electrical Engineering in 2024 was 15 for opening rank and 464 for closing rank for the General category. Similarly, IIT Delhi's cutoff for Electrical Engineering in 2024 ranged from 2666 to 4169.

Hope you find it helpful,

Thank you!!
