Getting an Internship at one of the Big 4 consulting firms (Deloitte, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), KPMG, and Ernst and Young) is a dream of many commerce students. These firms offer exposure to global clients, professional training, and a strong start to your career. However, due to so many specialisations available, it can be confusing for the students which one will be the right specialisation.
In this article, we will discuss some of the most relevant BCom course specialisations that can help students land internships at the Big 4. We will also simplify why each one is important and what roles students can apply.
The ‘Big Four’ refers to the four largest consulting firms measured by revenue. It includes Deloitte, Ernst & Young (EY), PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), and Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler (KPMG). These companies offer Audit and Assurance Services, Tax Consulting, Advisory/Consulting firms, and Legal and Regulatory services to clients around the world.
The Big 4 firms have multiple departments such as Audit, Taxation, Risk Advisory, Consulting, and Financial Services. However, when hiring interns, they often look for candidates who already have basic knowledge in a relevant field. Choosing the right specialisation has a major impact on the internship recruitment. Some of the benefits of Big 4 firms are mentioned below.
