What a college for Bachelor life you should go for it

    Verified Review
    College Infrastructure

The classrooms are large, bright, and clean and the college is safe and well-disciplined. Wi-Fi is provided at the library zone which is very helpful during project works. The college also provides computer labs for practical sessions and the college environment is peaceful and study-friendly.

    Academics

Faculty members are extremely helpful, experienced, and devoted to the students' academic and personal growth. They get the points across easily, give the learners the necessary materials, and invite students to take part in a workshop, presentation, or seminar.

    Placements

The placement cell holds regular workshops on résumé building, communication skills, and interview preparation, which really helps students to become confident. Several seniors have been able to secure good off-campus positions with the help of the faculty and the placement team, hence, the overall assistance system is quite good.

Learning steadily, hoping for a livelier future.

    College Infrastructure

From my time at Shri Shikshayatan College, I observe that the campus structure has a vintage charm but needs a fresh makeover. The classrooms have a modest size which sometimes makes long lectures tiring. The library’s collection suits my journalism course but lacks diversity in newer editions. Laboratories exist but the equipment is occasionally slow or unavailable. The open spaces around the college help me unwind between classes. In essence, the physical setup shows promise yet awaits renovation to match today’s standards.

    Academics

In my third year, I feel the academic environment at Shri Shikshayatan sparks genuine learning. Professors are passionate, blending theory with real media examples that captivate me. Some modules push me to think critically about news ethics and communication strategies. However, not all courses inspire me equally, a few drift into repetitive patterns. The college encourages practical assignments, which truly boosts my skill set. I find myself growing but also craving more innovative teaching approaches.

    Placements

Placement opportunities here are sporadic, and honestly, I face challenges breaking into the media sector through college channels. The placement cell organizes a few drives, but they mostly target mainstream jobs, often unrelated to journalism. I managed to find internships largely through personal networks outside college. Though staff are willing to help, tailored career advice is missing. I hope the college ramps up industry connections to boost our future prospects.

    Value for Money

Looking at fees and facilities, I weigh the cost of studying here and feel it is neither exceptionally good nor bad. I pay a fair amount, yet sometimes feel resources lag behind expectations. That said, the core teaching quality justifies my investment to an extent. Scholarships and fee waivers are scarce, which can be hard for some students. Overall, I see it as average in terms of getting my money’s worth.

    Campus Life

My college life is a mix of quiet study sessions and occasional bursts of enthusiasm during events. The community here is cooperative though not very lively or spirited like bigger campuses. I appreciate the peaceful atmosphere for focused learning but sometimes miss a stronger sense of belonging or student energy. Clubs exist yet participation depends on individual interest rather than collective drive. Despite a subtle vibe, I enjoy meeting friends and engaging in selective activities.

Top faculty, maximum academic value and benefit.

    College Infrastructure

I find myself wishing we had more open space to simply breathe between my crowded lectures every single day. The main building has a wonderful, old-fashioned look to it, but I constantly feel the crush of people when I am trying to move through the narrow, tight hallways. Even though the maintenance staff works hard to keep everything extremely clean, the lack of ample room makes things feel exhausting during the busiest times of the entire college day. I really hope the college library gets some better digital subscriptions and more comfortable seating for us students who crave quiet study.

    Academics

The English faculty here just absolutely gets literature, and that contagious passion immediately hooks me into every single lesson. I feel like my brain is genuinely switched on every time I attend class because the professors constantly challenge my existing critical thinking skills.

    Placements

For us Arts and Humanities graduates, the job opportunities the placement cell provides are unfortunately very limited in scope and also in their overall number. The available positions mostly involve roles like basic human resources, corporate content writing, or sometimes a position in the educational field later on. The salary packages being offered through the official campus drives are usually quite minimal, which is certainly disheartening but totally typical for my non-professional, liberal arts degree.

    Value for Money

My parents and I believe the affordable fee structure has made this high-quality education readily attainable for me. I think the caliber of teaching I receive from the English faculty is truly unmatched, which drastically tips the scales in the college’s favor. I know I am getting the same academic recognition as students at much more expensive institutions across the city. I tell my friends all the time that I am getting an outstanding deal for the future educational path I want to take.

    Campus Life

I quickly became close with my batchmates due to the physically small nature of the college, where I constantly bump into friends. The college have plenty of exciting activities and student-led groups, like the literary society, which gives me great avenues to explore my non-academic interests. The annual college events are always celebrated enthusiastically, and I always look forward to participating in the drama and cultural programmes we organize.

My brain thrives here, my student life struggles.

    College Infrastructure

I feel the campus is more of a beautiful, cramped antique building than a spacious college environment. I constantly notice we have no green space or proper common areas because of the shared city center location. I find the wireless network completely useless for my studies due to its extremely sluggish speed. I am most frustrated by the genuinely poor maintenance and upkeep of the college's shared washroom facilities.

    Academics

I believe the faculty teaching my Bachelor of Arts Honours papers are the single greatest asset here. I appreciate that they approach the curriculum with intensity, demanding high-level commitment from me. I know I am gaining a rigorous theoretical foundation that truly prepares me for future studies. I feel pressure to master complex concepts, not just memorize notes for the university examination. I always find the professors incredibly generous with their time for clearing my doubts outside of class. I see this dedication as the main reason my steep learning curve feels genuinely worthwhile.

    Placements

I quickly realized the campus placement system is a non-essential backup plan for me in the Arts stream. I find recruitment drives for my specific Arts roles are infrequent and often target general support positions. I constantly remind myself that my most meaningful career moves depend on securing off-campus internships. I plan to focus all my energy on personal initiative for my professional growth, independent of the college. I accept that the college's direct assistance will be negligible for my specific career goals.

    Value for Money

I feel that I am investing heavily in the college's legacy and its extremely convenient location, which is a major factor for me. I know the intellectual value from my professors is superb and completely justifies the major chunk of the tuition fee. I feel frustrated because I face continuous, unexpected administrative charges for various mandatory certificates and programs. I often wonder if the extra money I spend could have been better invested in external professional development or coaching for competitive exams.

    Campus Life

I honestly feel the constant, palpable institutional strictness suppresses my independent, spirited college experience. I realize that any genuine social activity or feeling of liberation only begins once I step beyond the main gates. I am thankful that the convenient location means the entire central business district is my functional social space. I wish the discipline was less strict so I could enjoy more freedom during my time inside the campus.

Affordable quality, but curriculum needs immediate update.

    Verified Review
    College Infrastructure

The essential facilities offered here far exceed what the modest fees would typically suggest is possible. For instance, the relief of having modern, powerful air conditioning consistently running in teaching rooms makes navigating the arduous Kolkata climate entirely bearable for long hours. General campus internet access is also reasonably solid and keeps our daily academic research workflow moving forward efficiently without major disruptions. However, the greatest, most pressing challenge here is undoubtedly the inherent lack of physical elbow room, as the college footprint is strictly constrained by its prestigious, highly central city location.

    Academics

I feel the degree successfully builds a strong, basic base, but it unfortunately lacks vital contemporary flavour and dynamism in its content. The course structure strictly adheres to the established, formal university mandates, which means that innovative, industry-relevant knowledge is painfully slow to integrate into daily lectures and is often omitted entirely. While the senior teaching staff frequently exhibit remarkable depth and authority in specialized accounting and core finance topics, the foundational curriculum itself feels decidedly old-school and rigid.

    Placements

The placement apparatus is certainly a professional, well-oiled machine that reliably attracts a consistent flow of major corporate recruiters every single season. I can say that this strong institutional link ensures that the ubiquitous Big Four accounting giants and several other large financial service corporations always actively target the college during the recruitment period. However, I realized that the competition among peers aiming for the truly top-tier, high-velocity roles in specialized finance is absolutely merciless and fierce. I genuinely believe the placement team should prioritize aggressively scouting new opportunities across diverse, non-traditional sectors to significantly broaden career pathways for all students.

    Value for Money

I feel the balance between the initial investment cost and the resultant career outcome is simply fundamentally unbeatable in the entire Kolkata region. The college manages to provide professional facilities, including reliable access to the library and consistent air conditioning in teaching zones, which far exceed any reasonable expectation set by the extremely modest financial contribution. The value proposition here is almost entirely unmatched across all similar educational options, standing as the primary reason I chose to enroll here.

    Campus Life

The college have an extensive network of seniors and peers who offers a deep, lasting support system and a shared sense of collective purpose throughout the rigorous course of study. The formal and informal student clubs are exceptionally busy engines of co-curricular growth, providing invaluable chances to sharpen real-world organizational and soft skills effectively. However, I often find that some of the internal rules concerning general student movements and daily conduct feel overly conservative and sometimes stifling for young adults living in a modern city.

Excellent teaching, beautiful campus but high hidden fees.

    College Infrastructure

The heritage building is stunningly majestic, giving everything a stately, serious atmosphere and it definitely does not feel like a modern box building. However, the campus essentially shares space with the school section, so for us college students, the recreational area feels like a tiny slice of the pie. For me finding a corner to just chill out and breathe, without feeling like I am standing in a hallway, is the hardest quest of the day.

    Academics

The Education Honours course feels like I hit the academic jackpot. Our faculty are not just teachers but they are genuine subject matter superheroes. They drill down on the complex University material so thoroughly that when the final exams come, I feel genuinely over-prepared and capable. This is a 5/5 experience purely based on the quality of instruction.

    Placements

This college is an education factory, not a job placement hub for Arts students. If you are aiming for a serious role in the humanities or education right after graduation, you are on your own. The official placement cell throws almost all its focus and resources towards the Commerce and Management streams, leaving us core Arts majors to pick up the very basic leftover jobs which are not even worth doing according to me.

    Value for Money

The initial fee is fair, acting as the ticket price for a prime location and high-quality teaching—I feel I definitely pay for the reputation and the comfy air conditioners. But the true cost starts to feel like a hidden financial sinkhole. It seems like every festival, every mandatory seminar, and every departmental activity comes with its own small, compulsory add-on fee. If the college could just be transparent and include everything in a single, all-inclusive annual bill, it would feel much more honest.

    Campus Life

The campus creates a wonderfully focused and safe academic bubble. There is a powerful sense of support and zero tolerance for distraction, which is a major positive for me. Plus, the location is phenomenal being right in the city heart, making it the perfect launchpad for quick transport and grabbing food with friends after class. The college has great clubs that allow us to build serious leadership skills. The only thing that truly clips my wings is the twin enforcement of strict attendance rules and the physically small campus. There is not much breathing room or spontaneous social time built into the schedule or the geography.

Supportive community but placement needs focus.

    College Infrastructure

We have access to clean and well-maintained rest rooms on every floor, and the main auditorium is modern and impressive for large events and cultural programs. The student lounge areas are relatively small but functional, and the recent minor upgrades to the primary internet connectivity have certainly made researching slightly less frustrating for all the students here. I really wish they would invest in fully modernized digital projection screens in every classroom to make presentations much easier to manage effectively.

    Academics

While one or two of our senior Economics professors are absolutely stellar, bringing insightful research and current case studies directly into the classroom discussions with great enthusiasm, a few others seem to rely heavily on slightly dated lecture notes and encourage rote memorization instead of critical thinking engagement. The pressure to complete the vast syllabus before the short examination period begins is intense, leading to a sometimes rushed and slightly superficial coverage of several important topics we are trying to grasp.

    Placements

My current, albeit very early, impression of the college placement scenario is admittedly not particularly encouraging right now, especially for an Honors student aiming for very specialized roles beyond standard commercial banking or insurance sales immediately after graduation. While the sheer volume of companies that formally visit the campus for recruitment is high, the vast majority of the job profiles offered appear to be frustratingly general and possess disappointingly modest starting salary packages for graduates who have committed four years to a difficult honors degree program.

    Value for Money

In terms of financial value for the resources received, I truly believe this college represents an undisputed five-star investment for any student serious about their academic future in this city. The annual tuition fee structure is incredibly affordable and refreshingly transparent when compared to the soaring, exorbitant costs of nearly all private universities that offer similar professional degrees right now. The college's degree carries a significant amount of weight and instant respectability within Kolkata’s professional circles, providing an invaluable and necessary stamp of quality recognition on any resume.

    Campus Life

The student union is incredibly proactive in organizing regular, smaller events like open mic sessions and departmental gatherings, ensuring there is always something engaging to participate in every single week on campus. Despite the college being a tight, central city building, every corner feels utilized effectively, acting as a natural spot for us to quickly connect and instantly socialize with other students from diverse courses available here.

A formative and challenging first step into college.

    Verified Review
    College Infrastructure

I found the main library immediately impressive, serving as a dedicated space for quiet research with great literary holdings. Our specific departmental classrooms are all spacious and consistently kept in very good condition for comfortable study. The large auditorium is a standout feature, perfectly suited for hosting all major annual functions and cultural events. Unfortunately, the designated student lounges are far too small and constantly become excessively crowded during breaks.

    Academics

The frequent, well-organized guest lectures provide excellent exposure to the industry beyond the syllabus. I noticed the introductory, foundational lecture pace felt surprisingly slow during the entire first few weeks. There is a clear need for more accessible, one-on-one, formal mentoring hours for new, adjusting students. They succeed in creating an environment that sparks intellectual curiosity within every classroom session.

    Placements

We are frequently offered generic soft skill workshops, which completely miss tailored career guidance for humanities pathways. Most of my peers are strategically planning to pursue a Master of Arts degree immediately upon graduating. The lack of concrete job opportunities creates genuine anxiety about entering the general market directly. The college needs to urgently address the huge disparity in support offered to English students.

    Value for Money

The high quality of the learning environment easily justifies the small financial commitment from every student. Access to the fantastic, well-maintained library alone is a significant return on investment. Even with all the standard administrative fees included, the total cost remains exceptionally inexpensive.

    Campus Life

The canteen truly operates as the bustling social epicenter, serving consistently affordable and decent quality food options. Numerous active literary and debate clubs provide strong avenues for deep involvement and meeting various new peers. Securing a vacant table during the crowded, peak lunch rush is an intense, competitive, daily battle. The grand cultural festivals are always celebrated with outstanding, transforming energy and enthusiasm across campus.

Lively campus energy, but career placement is disappointing.

    College Infrastructure

The college provides enough infrastructures that can be needed by a Master's student. The computer laboratories designated for Commerce students are modern, well-equipped, and essential for our specialized subjects. However, the one area that I feel genuinely struggles is the parking and entry-exit during peak hours as it can get incredibly congested outside. The auditorium is grand and frequently used for college events, making it a dynamic hub of activity. Overall, the facilities strongly support the academic mission, even if expansion is clearly constrained by the location.

    Academics

The curriculum for Master of Commerce in Accounting and Finance is current and aligns well with university standards, covering all the core subjects rigorously. Some of the faculty members are truly helpful but unfortunately, consistency is the major problem. A few faculty seem disengaged or simply rush through complex topics without clarifying doubts thoroughly. The evaluation pattern is fair and transparent, although the schedule can sometimes feel quite hectic with simultaneous internal and external assessments.

    Placements

The placement cell primarily focuses on undergraduate students, and the post-graduate job fairs are sparse or offer roles that do not fully match the specialization in Accounting and Finance. We rarely see major, blue-chip financial or audit firms actively recruiting directly from the campus for the master's cohort. The college provides some resume workshops and interview practice sessions, but the actual job roles presented are often with start-ups or smaller firms with lower remuneration packages.

    Value for Money

Compared to the exorbitant costs of private Master of Business Administration programs or standalone professional certifications, this degree offers a formal qualification affordably. While the placement support could be better, the formal degree from this reputable college significantly boosts my curriculum vitae. Therefore, for the knowledge gained and the official degree secured, the financial outlay feels justified and reasonable for me.

    Campus Life

Honestly, the energy of Shri Shikshayatan is its defining characteristic, the environment is buzzing with enthusiasm and creativity. There is an incredibly active schedule of events, ensuring there is always something worthwhile happening, whether it is a seminar or a cultural competition. The student-led clubs, ranging from debate to entrepreneurial ventures, are serious and offer real skill-building opportunities beyond the curriculum. Lunchtime at the canteen and the common rooms is always a lively affair, facilitating easy and comfortable interaction across different courses.

High quality, challenging degree in a focused environment.

    College Infrastructure

The main buildings are solidly constructed and present a dignified, modern appearance from the outside. The classrooms are generally comfortable and large enough to seat our entire student intake easily. Access to clean restrooms is maintained adequately throughout the various floors and wings of the structure. I only wish the college could offer a slightly larger, more accessible open area for students to simply relax and congregate.

    Academics

The core curriculum is extremely rigorous. They introduce advanced concepts like econometrics and statistical modeling relatively early in the second semester. This accelerated pace feels a little overwhelming to me, hence the small deduction in the rating. Nevertheless, professors readily provide exceptional, personalized mentorship and additional guidance outside of scheduled class hours.

    Placements

The institution successfully draws many high-profile companies, but these recruiters mostly target the highly populated Commerce and Finance courses. For Economics students specifically, there is a clear observation that many graduates prefer to pursue higher education immediately after the degree. The dedicated placement cell does put considerable effort into hosting various soft skill development workshops and practical interview preparation sessions. I believe the college must focus on attracting a more diverse set of recruiters specializing in core economic and consulting roles.

    Value for Money

Every single rupee spent on tuition feels entirely justified by the intellectual rigour and the professional investment the college offers. We are provided with excellent access to several paid academic journals and essential online resources without any additional charge. The overall administrative management is efficient, ensuring costs are kept low, which directly benefits the students and their families.

    Campus Life

Life on campus feels energetic particularly during the various intercollegiate functions and cultural festival seasons. As an exclusively women's college, there is a very strong sense of mutual respect and genuine sisterhood cultivated among all students. The college's location in the city centre and its resultant smaller campus size means common areas like the student cafeteria can become quite congested and noisy.
